Student answer (Band 6.5)
Some people think it is better to accept a bad situation such as a boring job or not having enough money. Others believe that people should try to improve these situations This essay will discuss both views and give my opinion
On the one hand many people accept difficult situations because they have no other choice. They may have a family to support and cannot risk leaving their job in addition finding a new job is not easy in some countries. If they keep their current job they can earn money and pay their daily expenses. For example a worker may continue working in a low paid company because he needs to take care of his children and parents.
One the other hand many people think that trying to improve life is a better decision. If someone is not happy with their job or income they should learn new skills or look for better opportunities. This can help them get a better salary and enjoy their work. For example many students study English and computer skills to get higher paying jobs in the future. Although it may take time hard work can bring success and improve their quality of life
In my opinion people should always try to improve their situation instead of accepting it forever. While it is sometimes necessary to stay in a difficult situation for a short time making efforts to change it is the best choice. People can develop new skills work hard and achieve a better future.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both viewpoints and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the mention of financial responsibilities for those who accept bad situations and the importance of skill acquisition for those who seek improvement. However, the development is somewhat basic. While the arguments are logical, they lack depth and specific, nuanced examples that would elevate the response to a higher band. The position is consistent throughout the essay, but the supporting points could be more thoroughly explored to demonstrate a more sophisticated level of critical thinking.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite mechanical and limited. There is a heavy reliance on simple transitions like 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand'. Furthermore, the lack of punctuation, particularly commas after introductory phrases (e.g., 'For example a worker'), makes the flow of ideas feel slightly disjointed. To improve, you should incorporate a wider variety of linking words and ensure that punctuation is used to guide the reader through your arguments more effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but remains quite repetitive and basic. Phrases like 'bad situation', 'get a better salary', and 'take care of' are functional but lack the precision and variety expected at higher bands. There is little attempt to use less common or idiomatic vocabulary. While the meaning is always clear and there are no significant spelling errors, the lexical range is restricted. To achieve a higher score, try to use more precise synonyms and collocations that demonstrate a broader command of the English language in an academic context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the grammar is generally accurate, there is a consistent lack of punctuation, particularly commas, which affects the readability of the text. For instance, 'For example a worker' and 'In my opinion people' require commas to separate introductory elements from the main clause. There are also minor errors in sentence construction, such as the missing full stop after 'situations' in the introduction. While these errors do not impede communication, they demonstrate a lack of control over complex punctuation and sentence boundary marking, which limits the score.
