Student answer (Band 6.0)
Overcoming tough situations is the major solution in life. Few people believe that it's better to accept a bad situation and move on some people say make an effort and improve such situations. This essay will discuss both the views and also give my opinion.
On the one hand, accepting a bad situation can sometimes be the most tough decision. In many cases, people cannot change their mind immediately because of family responsibilities, a lack of education, or limited job opportunities. For example, a person with a low income may continue working in an unsatisfactory job and have a lot of dependents on debts and loans that might be the major problem.
On the other hand, make an effort to improve such situations rather than accepting them, which may lead to a standard lifestyle. Learning new skills for better opportunities and continuing education, however, learning mistakes and guidance from elders and following career paths, and applying for higher paying jobs . Moreover, people who are unsatisfied with their jobs are switching by making an effort and improving their skills. Patience is a key factor to develop in such situations.
In my opinion, while accepting difficulties may sometimes be necessary, people should not remain in an unsatisfactory situation.
In conclusion, although accepting a difficult situation can provide major role, I believe that making an effort to improve it is a more positive approach because it offers greater opportunities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses both views and provides a clear opinion. However, the response is under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of development. While the ideas are relevant, the supporting arguments are somewhat brief and lack detailed examples. For instance, the point about 'learning mistakes and guidance from elders' is vague and could have been expanded with a concrete scenario. Because the response is under-length and the ideas are not fully extended, it falls into the lower band range. To improve, ensure each body paragraph contains a well-developed example that directly supports the topic sentence.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' are used to signal the structure. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes disjointed. For example, the second body paragraph contains a list of ideas that are not connected by appropriate conjunctions, making the progression feel mechanical. Additionally, some sentences are fragmented, which disrupts the logical flow. Using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring each sentence follows logically from the previous one would improve the coherence of the writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'major solution' and 'bad situation'. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'have a lot of dependents on debts'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more sophisticated vocabulary and idiomatic expressions, such as 'financial obligations' instead of 'dependents on debts'. Expanding your range of synonyms and focusing on natural word combinations will help you convey your ideas more effectively and precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. For example, 'make an effort to improve such situations' is used as a sentence fragment rather than a full clause. There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'provide major role'. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents a higher score. Focusing on sentence construction and proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with verb forms and sentence completeness, will significantly improve your writing.
