Student answer (Band 7.0)
People have different ideas about bad situations. Some individuals think it is better to accept them. Others think people should try to change them. This essay will discuss both views, and I think trying to improve is better.
On the one hand, some individuals accept a contrary situation because they have no choice. They may have a low-paying job, but they need money to support their family. It can also be difficult to find a new job. For this reason, they continue working and do not take risks. This helps them live a stable life. Foe example, a person living in a small village may continue working in the same job because there are no better options nearby.
On the other hand, many individuals believe they should try to improve their life. They can learn new skills, study more, or look for a better job. These things can help them earn money and have a happier life. For example, a person can learn English or computer skills and get a better job in the future. Although improvement takes time and effort, it often leads to success.
In my opinion, people should try to improve their situation. It may not be easy, but hard work can bring good results. Even small changes can make life better. People should not lose hope when they face problems.
In conclusion, some individuals accept a difficult situation because they need security. However, I think trying to improve is the best choice because it gives people a better future and more opportunities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The essay addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The position is consistent throughout the response. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While the examples provided (e.g., learning English or computer skills) are relevant, they are quite brief and could be expanded with more depth or specific detail to fully explore the implications of the arguments. The essay meets the requirements of the task, but to reach a higher band, the arguments need more substantial elaboration and a more sophisticated analysis of the trade-offs between security and personal growth.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central topic, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'For this reason' are used effectively to link sentences and paragraphs. However, the range of cohesive devices is somewhat limited and occasionally repetitive. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the overall structure supports the reader's understanding of the argument. To improve, you could incorporate a wider variety of linking words and ensure that the transition between ideas feels more fluid and less mechanical.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task and allows for clear communication. You demonstrate a sufficient range to discuss the topic, using words like 'unsatisfactory', 'stable', and 'opportunities'. However, the range is somewhat basic, and there is a lack of more sophisticated or 'less common' lexical items that would demonstrate a higher level of proficiency. There are no significant errors in word choice, but the language remains quite functional rather than precise or idiomatic. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more academic collocations and topic-specific vocabulary related to career development and personal resilience.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. Most sentences are grammatically accurate, and errors are rare and do not impede communication. For instance, the use of conditional-like structures and complex sentences with 'although' shows an attempt at variety. However, the range of complex structures is somewhat limited, and the writing style is quite straightforward. To improve, you should aim to incorporate a wider variety of grammatical structures, such as passive voice or more advanced subordinating conjunctions, while maintaining the current level of accuracy. Punctuation is generally correct throughout the text.
