Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both views, but the development is limited and often unclear. The ideas regarding why people accept or improve situations are somewhat muddled, and the personal example provided in the final paragraph is not fully integrated into the argument. The position is not clearly stated or maintained throughout the essay. To improve, you should ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that your personal experience is used to support a specific argument rather than just narrating a personal story. The response lacks a clear conclusion that summarizes your final stance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression of ideas is weak. Transitions between sentences are often missing or misused, such as the abrupt shift in the final paragraph. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes repetitive (e.g., 'this situation'). Referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of your argument. To improve, focus on using linking words like 'furthermore,' 'consequently,' or 'in contrast' to connect your ideas more effectively and ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed point.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is basic and often repetitive. There are several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation, such as 'run form all ups and down' and 'disgusted' (which is likely meant to be 'discouraged' or 'frustrated'). The range of vocabulary is limited, which restricts your ability to express complex ideas precisely. To improve, try to learn synonyms for common words and practice using collocations (words that naturally go together). For example, instead of 'get any job,' use 'secure employment.' Expanding your vocabulary will help you convey your thoughts more accurately and professionally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('their is no one'), tense consistency ('I complete my graduation'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, which hinders readability. There are also persistent errors with articles and prepositions. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often inaccurate. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring that your subjects and verbs agree, and using consistent tenses. Proofreading for common errors like 'did not ready' (should be 'were not ready') will significantly improve your score.
