Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you attempt to discuss both views, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack depth. The introduction is vague, and the conclusion does not clearly state your own opinion as requested by the prompt. The personal anecdotes provided are somewhat relevant but are not used to effectively support a balanced discussion of the two perspectives. To improve, ensure you fully explore the implications of both accepting and changing a situation, and provide a clear, consistent position throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay lacks a clear logical progression. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the transitions between ideas are often abrupt or confusing, such as the shift from the introduction to the first body paragraph. Cohesive devices are used in a mechanical or inaccurate way, for example, 'One other hand' instead of 'On the other hand'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow your train of thought. To improve, focus on using linking words more naturally and ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects back to the main prompt.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary range is limited and often inaccurate, which occasionally impedes communication. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'People perception are changes' instead of 'People's perceptions change' and 'This moments feel me amaze' instead of 'This moment makes me feel amazed'. You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle to express complex ideas precisely. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and practicing the correct usage of word forms (nouns, verbs, adjectives). Expanding your range of academic vocabulary will also help you express your arguments more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There is a limited range of grammatical structures, and the essay contains frequent errors in basic grammar, including subject-verb agreement, tense usage, and sentence construction. For example, 'Human are sensitive' should be 'Humans are sensitive', and 'I have apply' should be 'I applied'. Many sentences are fragmented or lack proper structure, which makes the text difficult to read. While some simple sentences are clear, attempts at more complex structures often result in errors that cause confusion. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence patterns and proofreading for common errors like verb tense consistency and pluralization.
