Student answer (Band 6.0)

Accepting a situation won't make the situation your reality. It is your job to make your situation the better future that you desire. In this essay we will be discussing about the debate around the topic if it's best to accept a bad situation or to try to improve.

On one hand, Yes I think it is indeed the best to accept a bad situation. As, Past experience builds your future. If you're declining an opportunity because you think you can get better than you're 100% wrong. It is in your hand to turn the "bad situation" into your opportunity. It will also increase your experience and skills, it is crucial to go out of your comfort zone and do something extraordinary for a better life ahead

On the other hand, saying "it is better to try and improve such situations" will only work if you're willing to give more than you were before in finding that "better situation". Nothing is easy. Inorder to gain you must do hardwork. Trying to manifest only may work to some extends but that better opportunity won't fall in your lap. You would still have to go out of your comfort zone and grab it before someone else does.

To conclude this essay, it's proven that nothing in this life is easy. To get success you would have to go out of your comfort zone and achieve the goals you're aiming towards for. And after you do achieve, it will feel very sensational and all the hardwork you're thinking not to do will be worth it at that time.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument, but the development is somewhat superficial. While you mention that accepting a situation can build experience and that improving a situation requires hard work, the arguments lack specific examples or deeper analysis. The position is somewhat contradictory; you initially state that accepting a bad situation is best, but then argue that one must work hard to change it, which blurs your stance. To improve, ensure your position is clearly defined in the introduction and consistently maintained throughout the essay. Providing concrete examples, such as a specific career scenario or financial challenge, would help to extend and support your ideas more effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate. For instance, the transition 'On one hand, Yes I think...' is informal and slightly awkward. The connection between sentences could be smoother; some ideas feel like a list of points rather than a cohesive argument. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider range of linking words and phrases (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') to connect your ideas more naturally and improve the overall flow of the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and variety expected at higher levels. You rely on some repetitive phrasing, such as 'bad situation' and 'comfort zone'. While you attempt some less common vocabulary like 'extraordinary' and 'manifest', these are used in ways that are slightly imprecise or unnatural. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific collocations and synonyms to avoid repetition. Focus on using words that accurately convey your intended meaning rather than relying on general terms, which will help demonstrate a more sophisticated command of the language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally impede clarity. For example, 'In this essay we will be discussing about' is grammatically incorrect (the verb 'discuss' does not take 'about'). There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'work to some extends' instead of 'work to some extent'. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors prevent the writing from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and refining your use of complex sentence structures.
