Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The essay addresses both sides of the argument, but the development is inconsistent. While the first body paragraph provides a clear rationale for accepting a situation, the second paragraph suffers from fragmented ideas and unclear reasoning. The conclusion is particularly weak; it fails to summarize the main points or clearly state a final position, instead offering a disjointed sentence. Furthermore, the essay falls slightly below the 250-word minimum requirement, which negatively impacts the overall task completion. To improve, you should ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that your conclusion synthesizes your arguments rather than introducing new, unclear fragments.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'On the other hand' and 'In addition', but the logical flow is frequently interrupted by disjointed sentences. The paragraphing is present, but the transition between ideas is often mechanical or confusing. For instance, the final paragraph is composed of fragmented thoughts that do not logically follow the previous discussion. The use of referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of your argument. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence connects logically to the one before it.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher score. You rely on common phrases like 'improve a bad situation' and 'better job opportunities' repeatedly. There are also instances of awkward word choices, such as 'quality for higher paying job' (instead of 'qualify') and 'key of success' (instead of 'key to success'). While your meaning is usually clear, the lack of range and the presence of collocation errors limit your score. Try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary and synonyms to demonstrate a broader range of language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Issues include missing articles ('a higher paying job'), incorrect verb forms ('quality' instead of 'qualify'), and punctuation errors. Some sentences, particularly in the final paragraph, are grammatically incomplete or incoherent, such as 'In my opinion, such as increase education with the help or solve the problems of present conditions'. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, consistent tense usage, and ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and predicate.
