Student answer (Band 6.0)

Few individuals thought that it is better to accept every bad situation like an unsatisfactory job or shortage money. and other thought that it is not fair man should try to improve situations and change them with confidence and hardworking. A man could do anything what he want but the main thing is that his vision is always unbreakable and have a faith on their god. I discuss both views and also give my opinion.

On the one hand, some people believe that accepting a difficult situation is better than trying to change it. one main reason is that some situations is beyond peoples control. sometimes accepting reality is reduce your stress and overthinking. for instance A man wanted to marry his cousin but the family is not agree so this is the situation which is out of control by the man. Another reason is that accepting a difficult situation can help people focus on practical solutions instead of wasting time and energy on things they cannot change. For example, if a person loses their job because a company closes down, they cannot change the company's decision. Therefore, accepting the situation and searching for another job is a more sensible approach.

On the other hand, many people believe that individuals should try to improve difficult situations rather than simply accept them. One main reason is that taking action can improve their quality of life. For example, a person with a low-paying job can learn new skills and apply for better-paid positions, which can improve their financial situation and standard of living. Another reason is that making an effort can help people achieve their goals. For instance, a student who is weak in English can practise regularly and take an English course to improve their language skills and achieve a higher Ielts score. Therefore, trying to change difficult circumstances can help people build a better future.

In my opinion, people should accept difficult situations when they are beyond their control. Although making an effort to improve life is important, constantly trying to change circumstances that cannot be changed may only lead to stress and disappointment.

In conclusion, although people should try to improve their circumstances, I believe that accepting situations beyond their control is sometimes the best choice.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant and supported with examples, such as the job loss scenario and the student learning English. However, the development is somewhat basic. The introduction is slightly disjointed and contains irrelevant personal philosophical statements about 'faith on their god' which do not directly contribute to the task. To reach a higher band, ensure that all sentences in the introduction directly introduce the topic and your position, and aim to expand the analysis of the arguments with more depth rather than just listing examples.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs. There is a progression of ideas from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'Therefore'. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly repetitive. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and some sentences are fragmented or lack proper connection to the previous thought. Improving the flow between sentences by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the coherence of the essay.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There is some attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'unsatisfactory', 'circumstances', and 'practical solutions'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of awkward phrasing or word choice, such as 'shortage money' instead of 'shortage of money' and 'man should try' which is too informal and gender-specific. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive or overly simplistic language. Expanding your range of academic vocabulary will help convey your arguments with more sophistication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Few individuals thought', 'some situations is', 'family is not agree') and article usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some sentences starting with lowercase letters or lacking proper spacing after periods. While the errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring consistent punctuation will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
