Student answer (Band 5.5)

Ever person in his life experiences a bad situation. Some people belive that we should accept the situatuion while others say that it is better to try and improve. This essay disscuss the both opinions.

To accept a bad situtauion is good overall. Situation like some people are not satisfied with their job or some may be experiencing poverty. These experiences give a sense of responsibility to a man for spending in a good manner as well for gaining experience. Additionally, if we go through with these situations we can experience and got to know how to behave in these type of situatuion. Also, time is not always be the same. Time changes so every person should accept a bad situation and try to indulge with that. Moreover, if a person accept it than the bad situations will not disturb him, he will go with the flow.

Some people believe that it is better to try and improve the bad situation . Bad situation is not in our hands but what is in our hand is to try and improve. We should try again and again until our success come. Person should try to improve such situations rather than accpeting. Furhtermore, by trying again a man explores much more also he can't give his 100 percent in any situation if that situation is bad. Also, if he try and try to improve the bad situation this will build his confidence as well.

I think it is better to try and improve not only becuase he will give his best but also he can gain knowledge by exploring and trying.

To sum up, people have different opinions about the bad situations some eblieve to accept it as it is and some believe to work hard to improve.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The essay addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For example, the arguments for accepting a bad situation are vague, relying on general statements like 'time changes' rather than concrete examples. The discussion on improving situations is also quite brief and lacks depth. While the task requirements are met, the ideas are not fully extended, which prevents the response from reaching a higher band. To improve, you should provide more specific, illustrative examples to support your claims.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Additionally', 'Moreover', and 'To sum up'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive, and the transitions between sentences can feel abrupt. For instance, the jump from discussing job satisfaction to 'time is not always the same' lacks a smooth logical link. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus would enhance the overall flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks sophistication. You rely on basic terms like 'bad situation' and 'try', which are repeated frequently throughout the text. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'belive', 'situatuion', 'disscuss', and 'accpeting', which occur throughout the response. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a wider range of vocabulary to express ideas more precisely. Using synonyms and more academic collocations would significantly improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'Ever person in his life', 'This essay disscuss the both opinions', and 'if he try and try'. Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar structures limit the score. To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, and try to incorporate more varied complex sentence structures with greater accuracy.
