Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The essay addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is limited. For instance, the argument for accepting a situation is supported by a brief example of job rejection, but the reasoning remains superficial. The conclusion is somewhat disconnected from the main body, and the overall position could be more clearly articulated throughout the text. To improve, you should aim to expand your supporting points with more detailed explanations and concrete examples, ensuring that each paragraph contributes directly to a cohesive argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'ON THE ONE HAND' and 'ON THE OTHER HAND', which are used correctly but lack variety. Some transitions between sentences are abrupt, and the logical flow is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing, such as 'ACCORDING TO ME, NEVER LET YOURSELF DOWN IS A GREATEST THOUGHT'. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one will significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are frequent spelling errors, such as 'ILLABORATE', 'EXEPTENCE', 'POSSIBLETIES', 'ACHIVE', 'SUCCED', 'POTENTIOL', 'SERTEN', and 'ATEMPTS'. These errors, combined with the use of basic vocabulary, restrict your ability to convey complex ideas precisely. To reach a higher band, you should focus on learning the correct spelling of common academic words and expanding your range of vocabulary to include more precise synonyms and collocations relevant to the topic of personal development and career challenges.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'EVERY PEOPLE HAVE DIFFRENT TECHNIQUES' (subject-verb agreement), 'IT IS REALLY HELP THEM' (incorrect verb form), and 'MOST OF THE PEOPLE LOSS THEIR POTENTIOL' (word choice/spelling). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevents the essay from reaching a higher score. Focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and basic sentence patterns before attempting more complex structures.
