Student answer (Band 6.5)
Life is very unpredictable and can sometimes cause unnecessary tension and stress. It is imperative to confront with undesirable situations patiently and wisely. Some folks believe that it is better to accept a bad situation, for instance, an unsatisfactory job or shortage of money. While others think that it is better to try and improve the current situation. The following paragraphs will analyze both sides of the argument and state my opinion.
To commence with one side of the discussion, a section of society believes that it is best to accept a bad situation. They hold this opinion because if a person is facing financial problems, it is crucial to accept an unsatisfactory job. It will provide the needed income and relieve the stress which can affect the overall health of an individual. Additionally, it keeps a person engaged and focus to improve oneself in the best possible way.
Conversely, a part of the population thinks that it is more preferable to try harder and improve such situations because sticking to an unfavorable workplace for a longer time can prove unhealthy. It can cause unnecessary burden on mind and body. It is vital to keep trying new ways of making money by getting education in a different field that would create more job prospects and support in making more money.
According to my perspective, I strongly believe that a person should improve oneself constantly in order to achieve the desirable outcomes. It builds up the confidence and paves the way for new opportunities. A person should keep on trying new strategies to make more money that helps in a long run. It is more useful to set up long term goals rather than staying in an unsatisfactory workplace.
To conclude, it is important to make an income through a job to make ends meet and live a desirable life. A person should continue working in the same job depending on the financial situation while trying to improve oneself to get a better job and income.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the need for financial stability versus the desire for personal growth. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument for accepting a bad situation is brief and could benefit from more specific examples or deeper analysis of the psychological impact. The conclusion is a bit repetitive, merely restating the points rather than synthesising them. To reach a higher band, ensure that each body paragraph provides a more thorough exploration of the implications of each perspective.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organised with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central topic, and the progression of ideas is generally easy to follow. Cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Conversely', and 'In addition' are used to link ideas, although some transitions feel slightly mechanical. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different viewpoints. To improve, try to vary the cohesive devices used and ensure that the relationship between sentences is more fluid, avoiding repetitive sentence structures at the start of paragraphs.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'imperative', 'unpredictable', and 'prospects'. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in collocation and word choice, such as 'confront with undesirable situations' (should be 'confront undesirable situations') and 'focus to improve' (should be 'focused on improving'). The range is sufficient for the task but lacks the sophistication and precision required for higher bands. Expanding the range of topic-specific collocations would enhance the quality of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are recurring grammatical errors. For example, 'confront with' is incorrect, and there are issues with verb forms, such as 'keeps a person engaged and focus' (should be 'focused'). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and article usage errors throughout. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions after specific verbs.
