Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments are repetitive and lack specific, well-supported examples. For instance, the discussion on 'money shortage' and 'boring jobs' remains superficial. To improve, you should expand on your points by explaining the 'why' and 'how' behind your reasoning, rather than just stating the situation. The conclusion is present but lacks a summary of the main points discussed in the body paragraphs. The overall position is clear, but the depth of analysis is insufficient for a higher band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is often hindered by unclear phrasing and a lack of effective cohesive devices. While you use transition words like 'on the first hand' and 'in conclusion', they are often used incorrectly or are non-standard. The referencing is sometimes confusing, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of your argument. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'nevertheless') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that guides the reader through your argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, which restricts your ability to express complex ideas. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'endorse the negative condition' and 'no cuts no lux no coconuts', which are not appropriate for an academic essay. You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle to use less common lexical items accurately. To reach a higher band, you should focus on learning collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary to describe situations and actions, rather than relying on informal or vague expressions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are significant issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'everyone not get'), sentence structure, and missing articles. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, making the text difficult to parse. While you attempt to use some complex structures, they are often inaccurate. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction—ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb—before attempting more complex grammatical forms. Proofreading for basic errors like missing 'to be' verbs and incorrect verb tenses will also be highly beneficial.
