Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which negatively impacts the development of ideas. While you address both sides of the argument, the discussion is underdeveloped and lacks depth. Your position is somewhat unclear in the introduction and only becomes apparent in the conclusion. To improve, ensure you provide more detailed explanations and specific examples for each viewpoint. The current arguments are quite general and do not fully explore the complexities of the prompt, such as the long-term consequences of accepting versus changing a bad situation.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the flow between ideas is often mechanical. You use some cohesive devices like 'On the other hand' and 'In conclusion', but the internal logic within paragraphs is weak. For instance, the transition between discussing financial struggles and the example of a student is abrupt. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow your line of reasoning. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'bad', 'hard', and 'difficult', which restricts your ability to express nuanced ideas. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'struggling movements' and 'success and money fantasy', which sound unnatural. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary, including less common lexical items and more precise collocations related to the topic of employment and personal development.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('other believe', 'these sturdy moments... is help'), article usage, and sentence structure. You rely mostly on simple sentences, and your attempts at more complex structures often result in errors, such as 'These kind of challenging situations going to effect'. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like verb tense consistency and pluralisation.
