Student answer (Band 6.0)

While confronted with difficult circumstances, such as financial hardships or an unfulfilling job, individuals react differently. While some argue that accepting this reality promotes mental stability whereas others think that actively striving to improve is essential for personal growth and success. This essay will discuss both perspectives before presenting my own opinion.

Mental peace is the vital and uncompromisable part of human's life. fighting over unchangeable things can cause stress from which they tend to avoid and accept the situation. The other reason to stuck in same situation for many years is resource management. People cannot afford to lose their jobs and meet the ends. Furthermore, workers think that cultivating resilience build patience and make them emotionally strong to face hardships in further lifetime.

On the contrary, many believe that taking actions open doors to better opportunities instead of passively accepting hardships which leads to long-term traps i.e., permanent poverty or career dissatisfaction. Moreover, taking proactive steps leads to higher earning ends and career advancements. For instance, by keep learning related to their work slowly and steadily with consistence promotes advancement in skills. In addition, people take control over their lives by not looking into problems only but approaching a problem-solving technique. Overcoming smaller hurdles empowers individuals to tackle larger personal or financial crisis effectively. The process of overcoming a challenge brings a sense of an accomplishment and genuine joy.

It seems to me that acceptance is useful for short-term strategy to regain composure, but active effort is necessary for longer term success.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The essay addresses both viewpoints and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. The ideas are relevant, such as the mention of mental stability versus long-term career growth. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'resource management' is underdeveloped and lacks a clear link to the broader topic of accepting a bad situation. While the response covers all parts of the prompt, the supporting arguments could be more thoroughly explained with more specific examples to reach a higher band. The position is consistent, but the depth of analysis is slightly superficial.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each view, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Furthermore', 'On the contrary', and 'In addition', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences is a bit disjointed, such as the transition between the idea of 'resource management' and 'cultivating resilience'. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the internal cohesion within the second paragraph could be improved to ensure a smoother progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'uncompromisable', 'resilience', and 'proactive', which is positive. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'meet the ends' (should be 'make ends meet') and 'earning ends' (which is non-standard). Additionally, 'consistence' is used where 'consistency' would be correct. While the range is sufficient to communicate the message, the errors in word formation and collocation prevent a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'While some argue... whereas others think' (a redundant 'while'), 'human's life' (should be 'human life'), and 'reason to stuck' (should be 'reason to be stuck'). Subject-verb agreement and preposition usage are occasionally problematic, such as 'by keep learning' (should be 'by keeping on learning'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to suggest that the writer does not yet have full control over complex structures.
