Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides an opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the task. However, the development of ideas is limited and often unclear due to significant language errors. For example, the explanation of why people accept bad situations is repetitive and lacks logical depth. The example of Jack Ma is relevant but is not fully integrated into the argument to support the claim effectively. The position is present but could be more clearly articulated throughout the essay. Overall, the ideas are somewhat underdeveloped, and the response struggles to maintain a consistent focus on the prompt's core themes.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, which helps the overall structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'On the first hand' (incorrect idiom) and 'The both argue'. The progression of ideas is frequently interrupted by grammatical errors, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of the argument. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between the two viewpoints and the conclusion is abrupt. While there is an attempt at logical organization, the lack of effective linking words and the repetitive nature of the sentences hinder the overall coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary range is limited and often repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'un satisfied' instead of 'unsatisfactory', 'compariased' instead of 'compromised', and 'remanent' instead of 'permanent'. These errors are noticeable and occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. The student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'freelancing' and 'digital marketing', but the overall control of language is weak. To improve, the student needs to focus on accurate spelling and using words in their correct collocations rather than relying on basic, often misused, terminology.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The response contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('people donot tried change'), incorrect verb tenses ('people accepted un satisfied job'), and missing articles. Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at complex sentences are often faulty, such as 'Because some people live in difficult time so that why they accept this'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with frequent capitalization errors and missing commas. These errors are pervasive and frequently impede communication, requiring the reader to re-read sentences to understand the intended meaning. A greater focus on basic sentence construction and grammatical accuracy is essential.
