Student answer (Band 6.0)

Acceptance of situation regardless of the state of it is necessary because it provides you with lessons and clarity which help navigate through situation which may not always be favorable. Situations like unsatisfactory job or shortage of money may seem very much inconvenience at first glance but may open new doors in towards some great future or ways to improve the situation.

It depends heavily upon the person, the state or difficulty they are in or currently facing. All these factors determine the nature of decision.

For instance, Rahul is person who is considered a prodigy and expert in his subject domain gets placed in a role which is not very much suitable according to his qualification, but since he comes from a less affluent family and is desperate need for a job in order to sustain himself and support his family members he accepts the job role commencing his professional journey.

On the other hand, Pritam is just like Rahul was offered a job role which he found unsatisfactory unlike Rahul who was bound by his family responsibilities and lack of financial resources forcing him to take up the job. Rahul belonged to a affluent family and was not expected to contribute to the family and neither had an obligation of family responsibilities. Eventually, leading him to decline the offer and look for better opportunities. This resulted in him getting placed in a role which suits his work style along with good salary improving his situation.

In my opinion, not every situation will be favorable one, but it can be improved but that is also influenced by some of the factors such as current situation or ongoing difficulty leading to acceptance of unsatisfactory job or such similar situation. While it varies from person to person its always better to improve situation rather then settling for it.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the task. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The introduction is quite vague, and the distinction between the two viewpoints could be more clearly articulated. While the examples of Rahul and Pritam are relevant, the analysis of why one should or should not accept a situation is slightly repetitive. To reach a higher band, you should ensure that your arguments are more deeply explored and that your personal opinion is more explicitly integrated into the body paragraphs rather than just appearing in the conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the narrative. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally repetitive. For example, the transition between the two examples could be smoother. Some sentences feel disjointed, and the logical flow between the introduction and the body paragraphs could be improved with more sophisticated linking words. While the paragraphing is sufficient, the overall progression of ideas lacks the fluidity required for a higher band score. Improving the variety of transition signals would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'affluent', 'prodigy', and 'obligation'. However, there are instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'very much inconvenience' instead of 'a significant inconvenience' and 'in towards some great future'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your expression. To improve, focus on learning collocations—words that naturally go together—rather than just individual synonyms. Expanding your vocabulary to include more academic or formal expressions would help you move into the higher band range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('in desperate need', 'from a affluent family'), subject-verb agreement issues, and awkward sentence construction ('Acceptance of situation regardless of the state of it is necessary'). While these errors rarely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. You should focus on proofreading for basic errors like article usage and prepositional phrases. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures while ensuring they are error-free will help improve your score in this criterion.
