Student answer (Band 6.0)

In today's world the current situation of any person is the result of their struggle and vision they had in their past years. The current situation completely varies person to person, not every person can have a handsome amount of salary or not every person can be happy by their job despite of their good salary or a person can be joyful by just getting respect and honor irrespective of any salary or position. The thing which can be discussed to evaluate these both views are what they want to achieve from their current position. We will discuss both sides of point of views and will evaluate accordingly.

If we discuss about the people who believe that it is best to accept a bad situation, realistically the current situation of those people is not good but the real thing which differentiate them from others is they don't have any vision to accomplish any task outside of their comfort zone. I completely disagree with this view of people because they feel comfortable while doing the tasks and things even they dislike to do not because they like it but because it is easier to complete and they accept it as is and eventually by the time they starts to believe that the things they have right now are enough and they don't need any further stuff to do.

On the other hand the people who try to improve their current situation are those who have specific goals they want to achieve in their life so they doesn't accept the bad situations if it is contradicting or blocking their way of progress. There are many examples of people who tried to become better and better so that the current better situations can lead them towards their end goals they have.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the prompt and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention that people who improve their situation have 'specific goals,' you do not provide concrete examples or a deeper analysis of why this is beneficial or what the potential downsides might be. The argument remains somewhat superficial and repetitive, particularly in the second paragraph. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with specific, illustrative examples rather than general statements about 'people who try to become better.'

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices like 'On the other hand' and 'If we discuss,' which help the reader follow your argument. However, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and some transitions feel mechanical. The opening paragraph is quite wordy and could be more concise to better introduce the topic. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'current situation,' 'bad situation,' and 'good salary' repeatedly. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'handsome amount of salary' (usually 'a high salary' or 'a competitive salary') and 'stuff to do.' To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to career progression, personal development, and psychological motivation, and ensure that your word choices are natural and contextually appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. For example, 'they starts to believe' (subject-verb agreement error) and 'so they doesn't accept' (subject-verb agreement error). Additionally, there are issues with punctuation and sentence boundaries, such as the run-on sentence in the first paragraph. While your meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed accurately.
