Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument, but the development is limited and relies heavily on a personal anecdote rather than a broader discussion of the topic. The position is somewhat unclear, as the essay focuses more on describing a specific situation of corruption rather than analyzing the philosophical or practical merits of accepting versus improving a bad situation. The arguments are under-developed, and the conclusion is not clearly stated. To improve, you should focus on providing general arguments that apply to the topic as a whole, rather than just telling a personal story, and ensure your own opinion is clearly articulated in the introduction and conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical flow is weak. The transition between the two viewpoints is abrupt, and the use of cohesive devices is very limited and often repetitive (e.g., 'now move to the next statement'). The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of ideas. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words such as 'furthermore', 'conversely', or 'consequently' to connect your ideas more smoothly and ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that relates directly to the prompt.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite basic and there are frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'politicels' for 'political', 'polition' for 'politician', and 'appioment' for 'appointment'. These errors occasionally make the meaning difficult to grasp. The range of vocabulary is limited, and there is little attempt to use more sophisticated or academic language suitable for an IELTS task. To improve, focus on learning the correct spelling of common words and try to incorporate more precise vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'resilience', 'systemic', or 'professional development'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement, tense consistency, and sentence structure. For example, 'my sister complete a bs' should be 'my sister completed a BS', and 'they do a hard work' is grammatically incorrect. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the punctuation is often misused or missing. These errors are frequent and sometimes impede communication. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring consistent verb tenses, and practicing the use of articles and prepositions.
