Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the task. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments are repetitive and rely heavily on personal anecdotes rather than broader, more analytical discussion. The explanation of why one might accept a bad situation is somewhat unclear, and the transition between the two viewpoints is abrupt. To improve, you should aim to expand on the underlying reasons for each perspective with more sophisticated reasoning and ensure your own opinion is more clearly integrated throughout the essay rather than just stated in the introduction.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear structure. The paragraphing is problematic; the text is essentially one large block, which makes it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of ideas. While there are some attempts at cohesive devices (e.g., 'However', 'For example'), they are often used incorrectly or in a way that feels mechanical. The referencing is frequently unclear, particularly when shifting between the two viewpoints. To improve, you must use clear paragraph breaks to separate the introduction, the two body paragraphs, and the conclusion. Additionally, focus on using transition words more naturally to link sentences and ideas logically.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, which restricts the ability to convey complex ideas. There are frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'elleborated', 'essuing', 'revalent', and 'tis'. The range of vocabulary is basic, and there is little evidence of an attempt to use less common or more precise lexical items. To reach a higher band, you should focus on expanding your vocabulary related to professional and personal development and pay closer attention to spelling and word forms. Using synonyms and more precise collocations would significantly improve the quality of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'a patient man know', 'the accident happens'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, making them difficult to parse. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, they are almost always faulty. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and correct verb tenses. Proofreading for punctuation and basic grammatical accuracy is essential before attempting more complex sentence structures.
