Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 100 words. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed. The ideas presented—such as the notion that facing hardship increases patience—are underdeveloped and lack the necessary depth or supporting examples required for an academic essay. The prompt asks to discuss both views and provide an opinion, but the response lacks a clear structure to address these requirements effectively. Due to the significant under-length and the lack of full development of the arguments, the response is severely limited in its ability to satisfy the task requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5

The essay lacks a logical structure. While there is an attempt to use a transition word ('Commencing with'), the overall progression of ideas is disjointed. The paragraphing is insufficient, and the connection between sentences is often unclear, making the argument difficult to follow. Cohesive devices are used in a mechanical or incorrect way, such as 'they by building a patience level', which hinders the flow of the text. To improve, you should focus on using clear topic sentences for each paragraph and ensuring that each idea follows logically from the previous one.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.5

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which limits the ability to convey complex ideas. There are several errors in word choice and form, such as 'fullfield' (fulfilled) and 'there' used instead of 'their'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, you should aim to use a wider variety of topic-specific vocabulary and focus on accurate spelling and word formation. Using more precise synonyms for common words will help elevate the quality of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('Few individuals thinks') and incorrect sentence structures ('Many people think that to improve situations like this'). There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the punctuation is inconsistent. The errors are pervasive and occur in almost every sentence, which significantly affects the clarity of the message. Focusing on basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and correct verb forms is essential for improvement.
