Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, some people believe that it is best to accept a bad situation like shortage of money or a job where there is no peace, while some argue that it is better to try and improve such sitautions. I think it is better to try and improve such situations while accepting a bad situation like shortage of money, etc.

Professionalism comes from working in good companies, and it is very much important in life. People do face a lot of problems but that doesn't mean they should accept bad situation. People learn many things from job. Unsatisfactory jobs are made by people themselves by not concentrating properly. For example, If a person is doing job in any company and unable to concentrate on his work, unable to complete his work on time and faces other problems like this he should make a change in him to improve such type of situations.

If we talk about money, in todays generation money is one of the most important part of everyone life. Money can improve the life as well. Shortage of money happens when people dont concentate on their life, health, and family. This situation happens when a person is not working on himself and famile means that person is lazy. For example, If a person is earning good he is earning respect in society, he is making his worth and a guy who is accepting bad sitaution like shortage of money should work on himself.

People should know that what is actually best for them and how they can learn things in life by accepting their mistakes and works in them. So i believe that it's better to try and improve such situation while accpting something bad.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument, but the development of ideas is limited and somewhat repetitive. The argument that unsatisfactory jobs or financial shortages are primarily caused by laziness or lack of concentration is an over-generalisation that lacks nuance. While you state your position, the reasoning provided is not fully developed or supported with logical evidence. The conclusion is slightly contradictory, as you suggest improving a situation while simultaneously 'accepting' it, which confuses the reader. To improve, focus on providing more balanced, objective arguments and ensure your examples directly support your main points rather than blaming individuals for complex socio-economic issues.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often disjointed. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'For example' and 'If we talk about', but they are sometimes used mechanically or to introduce points that do not logically follow the previous sentence. The transition between the two main body paragraphs is weak, and the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks a clear topic sentence followed by supporting details. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed idea would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic phrasing, such as 'bad situation' and 'good companies', which are repeated frequently. There are also some spelling errors, such as 'sitautions', 'dont', 'concentate', and 'famile', which, while not always impeding communication, detract from the overall quality. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms and collocations related to the topic of career development and financial management, and ensure you proofread for basic spelling accuracy.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include missing articles ('doing job', 'in todays generation'), subject-verb agreement errors ('a guy... should work'), and awkward phrasing ('works in them'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically article usage and pluralisation, before attempting more complex structures.
