Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 154 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the prompt asks to discuss both views and provide an opinion, the arguments are extremely underdeveloped and repetitive. The essay lacks specific examples or logical progression, and the conclusion is confusing, as it does not clearly state which side is more beneficial. The response is too brief to fully address the task requirements, resulting in a low score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical flow is severely hampered by the lack of content. Cohesive devices are either missing or used incorrectly, such as the awkward transition 'In world some people believe'. The progression of ideas is unclear, and the relationship between sentences is often disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the writer's line of reasoning.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. There is a lack of academic or precise language required for an IELTS Task 2 essay. Phrases like 'jobs is good earning money' and 'not good activities' are simplistic and imprecise. The student struggles to use vocabulary effectively to convey complex ideas, relying on basic, often incorrectly collocated words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There are significant issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'jobs is good'), sentence structure (e.g., 'although has some drawback'), and word order. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple, error-prone sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, and the overall control of grammar is weak.
