Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, some individuals think that accepting a bad situation, such as shortage of money or not a good job. While, some people argue that it better to try and improve such types of problem. This essay elucidates both the plots with relevant example, followed by my point of view.

On the first hand, Some people think that accepting bad situation, such as an unsatisfactory job or shortage of money is still better to stay with no jobs or no money. Taking risk like applying for different jobs, who pays better then their current job can also give risk to there current job which can also effect there promotion, if companies find out about your application in different companies. For example, many people working in different companies try to apply jobs resumes in different companies, but end up getting none, this waste their lot of time.

On the other hand, Some individuals argue that they should try to be better and improve such situation as hard work always pays off. In other words, individuals should always try to do hard work to get better results in future like getting higher level in their career, which always help to make more money. For example, in a recent survey, it was found that those people who are trying to improve in their situation often get good results.

In my opinion, trying to improve in bad situation, like unsatisfactory job or shortage of money are often better rather then accepting that bad situation.

To conclude, Although accepting bad situation helps us to be stable in life, but I think one should always try to better and improve such situation.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The essay addresses both views and provides a clear opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The arguments regarding the risks of job hunting are repetitive and lack depth, and the example provided in the second body paragraph is vague ('a recent survey'). To reach a higher band, you need to provide more specific, well-supported examples and expand on the reasoning behind why one might choose to accept a bad situation versus the benefits of striving for improvement. The conclusion is a bit brief and does not fully synthesize the points discussed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use basic cohesive devices like 'On the first hand' (though this is non-standard; 'On the one hand' is preferred) and 'On the other hand'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the logical progression within paragraphs is occasionally hindered by repetitive phrasing. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'this waste their lot of time', where the antecedent is not explicitly defined. More varied linking words would improve the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'not a good job' instead of 'unsatisfactory employment' and 'elucidates both the plots' (the word 'plots' is inappropriate here; 'perspectives' or 'arguments' would be better). You rely on simple, repetitive language throughout the essay. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and precise terminology related to career development and financial stability.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('some individuals think... while, some people argue'), incorrect word forms ('effect' instead of 'affect'), and missing articles. Sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when you attempt complex constructions, such as 'Taking risk like applying for different jobs, who pays better then their current job can also give risk to there current job'. These errors are noticeable and occasionally make the reader work harder to understand the intended meaning.
