Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Many people think that we should accept any situation, whether it is a job we are unsatisfied with or a miserable financial condition. However, on the other hand, many others believe that we have to work hard for improving such situations. I strongly agree with the second group of people and believe that we can make improvement by enhancing our soft skills.
One compelling reason why few people are in the view of accepting the current bad situation is that at present there is a high competition in the job market. This is primarily because the economic condition of many countries is not stable due to socio-political crises. As a result, companies might not hire new members. So, if anyone is not satisfied with his salary or office environment, it is better to accept that.
But there are a number of people who support that we need to improve ourselves and look for new opportunities. To do these, we may learn new skills or develop our current knowledge by enrolling into various online and offline skill-development programs. Social media platforms, for instance, YouTube or Facebook, can be a good source of information for this. Consequently, this will create more opportunities in the job field, improve our personal capacity to cope with different challenges that many people face and ultimately help to build a nation with skilled workers and stronger economic condition.
In conclusion, Though sometimes considering our reality we have to understand our existing situation, I firmly support that, we must improve our skills to create more opportunities to make us successful in life and in society at large.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, though the development of the first viewpoint (accepting bad situations) is somewhat limited and relies on generalisations about economic instability. The second viewpoint is better supported with specific examples of skill development. To reach a higher band, you should ensure that both sides are explored with equal depth and provide more nuanced reasoning for why someone might choose to accept a difficult situation, rather than just attributing it to external market forces. Overall, the position is consistent throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organised into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. Cohesive devices such as 'However', 'As a result', 'For instance', and 'Consequently' are used effectively to guide the reader. However, there are minor issues with flow; for example, the transition in the second paragraph ('So, if anyone is not satisfied...') feels slightly abrupt. Additionally, the concluding sentence is a bit clunky due to punctuation errors ('Though sometimes... I firmly support that, we must...'). Improving the variety of linking phrases and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would elevate the coherence of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'socio-political crises', 'compelling reason', and 'skill-development programs'. There are some instances of slightly unnatural collocation or word choice, such as 'few people are in the view of' (should be 'of the view that') and 'miserable financial condition'. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. Expanding your repertoire to include more idiomatic expressions or precise academic collocations would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While many sentences are clear, there are recurring grammatical errors. For instance, 'To do these' should be 'To do this', and 'stronger economic condition' lacks an article ('a stronger economic condition'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly the unnecessary comma after 'support that' in the conclusion. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a lack of full control over complex structures. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and article usage will help improve your accuracy.
