Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some individuals believe that people should accept negative circumstances, such as unpleasant job or financial difficulties, whereas others argue that they should make an effort to improve these situations.

In today's rapidly changing world, this issue has become a matter of considerable debate. While some people believe that it has positive aspect to accept the unfavourable circumstances during facing any challenge about job or financial status, because it helpful for personal development, others argue that to improve the worse situation by making an effort would be more better.

This essay will discuss both perspectives before explaining why I believe that to accept bad situation is not only enough but to make an effort for improving the situation is more better. The reason is that when a person go through failures in life, he should have another chance to get a job and prove himself as responsible individual who knows to face the difficulties of life and don't lose hope. Instead he will strive to become financially strong

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 167 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay introduces both perspectives and states a position, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting evidence or examples. The conclusion is also missing, as the text ends abruptly. Because the response is substantially under-length, it cannot fully address the prompt or develop ideas to the level required for a higher band score. To improve, you must expand your arguments with specific examples and ensure you complete the essay structure with a clear conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay shows some attempt at logical organization, using phrases like 'In today's rapidly changing world' and 'This essay will discuss'. However, the progression is interrupted by the premature ending of the text. Cohesive devices are used, but they are somewhat mechanical. Paragraphing is not fully utilized, as the response is essentially a single block of text. To improve, focus on creating distinct paragraphs for each viewpoint and use a wider variety of linking words to connect your ideas more fluidly throughout the essay.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You use some relevant terms like 'unfavourable circumstances' and 'financial difficulties', but there is repetition, such as using 'better' multiple times (e.g., 'more better'). There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'positive aspect to accept'. To reach a higher band, aim to use more sophisticated vocabulary and collocations, and avoid repeating simple adjectives. Expanding your range of synonyms will help you express your ideas with greater clarity and variety.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'during facing any challenge' (should be 'when facing'), 'a person go through' (subject-verb agreement error: 'goes'), and 'don't lose hope' (should be 'does not lose'). The sentence 'the situation is more better' is grammatically incorrect as 'better' is already a comparative. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct comparative forms, and proofreading for basic punctuation and syntax errors.
