Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some people believe that it is best to accept a bad situation, such as an unsatisfactory job or shortage of money. These kind of people don't know there inner potential, they don't work hard and accept everything as there life. On the other hand there are some people how are never satisfied and are always ready to defeat everyone, these kind of people never get defeat in their life as they always try to get that's best of the bests.

I have seen both kind of people personally those who accept everything and also those who fight for their rights. Actually the main reason behind the people who accept a bad situation is the role of their on parents and surrounding environment. Their parents never treat them good, they get lack of confidence which make them feel how can i talk to the person who is greater in rank then me, for their childhood they are not taught how to fight for their rights. I myself am the best example of these acceptors of any bad situation. However the other kind of people like my younger brother was never frightened of saying anything to anyone because my parents never scared him. They never stopped him from even talking bad about someone because they always said that he is a child when he'll understand what's wrong and what's right when he'll get elder.

In my opinion the person who stands for his right and always try to improve his life is the true gentleman. Alternatively the person who always accepts the bad situation is the loser and can never ever succeed in life

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both views and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is limited and relies heavily on personal anecdotes rather than broader, more analytical arguments. The discussion of why people accept bad situations is somewhat narrow, focusing primarily on parenting styles. To reach a higher band, you should expand your arguments to include societal, economic, or psychological factors beyond your own family experience. The conclusion is also quite brief and lacks a summary of the main points discussed, which prevents a more thorough development of your position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. Transitions between ideas are often abrupt or missing, making the flow feel disjointed. For example, the shift from the general introduction to the personal anecdote in the second paragraph is sudden. Cohesive devices are used sparingly and sometimes incorrectly, such as the use of 'Actually' and 'Alternatively' to start sentences, which does not always fit the context. The referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly when referring back to 'these kind of people'. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which limits the ability to convey complex ideas. There are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'defeat everyone' instead of 'compete' or 'succeed', and 'get that's best of the bests'. Phrases like 'these kind of people' are grammatically incorrect (should be 'this kind of person' or 'these kinds of people'). While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is insufficient to express nuanced arguments, and the lack of precision in word choice hinders the overall impact of the essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('these kind of people don't know there inner potential'), confusion between homophones ('there' instead of 'their'), and incorrect sentence structures ('how can i talk to the person who is greater in rank then me'). There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the punctuation is inconsistent. While the meaning is usually understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and spelling prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for basic errors and practicing complex sentence construction is essential.
