Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some individuals think it is better to accept a bad situation, for example an unsatisfactory job or shortage of money. Others argue it is best to try and improve such situations. I will discuss both views in detail.

On one hand, many individuals believe that it is positive to accept unusual situation, such as unsatisfactory job or lack of wealth. They think that they have not many other options to adopt and improve the situation in which they are living. Poverty or mental peace is matters on that place where we have a lot of facilities and many other possibilities. Additionally, some people have no definite aim in their lives and they are doing some work because they have to. For example, one of my friends had have no ambition to work for and then later after completing his degree he started work in a lower developed business because he had to earn money in any way.

On the other hand, a considerable proportion of individuals also believe that it is crucial to create opportunities in order to improve such situations. They argue that it is positive to adopt some methods or ideas to change the bad situation in which someone is spending his life. It is due to the fact that with the increased traditions and challenges it is important to tackle these challenges by enhancing the standard of living. For example, those who should not work for wealth or for peace of mind they have to face different problems with the passage of time and growing innovations.

To conclude, sometime many people do not want to improve their standard because the lack of motivation or a particular vision, and while others who want to do this they face lack of facilities. Personally, I believe it is important to improve such situations in that we are facing lot of problems by taking ideal steps or by creating opportunities by ourselevs.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The essay addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The arguments in the first body paragraph regarding 'mental peace' and 'facilities' are unclear and lack logical cohesion, making it difficult for the reader to follow the reasoning. The second body paragraph attempts to explain the importance of improving one's situation but remains vague, using general phrases like 'increased traditions' which do not clearly support the argument. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific, well-explained examples that directly relate to the prompt's themes of job satisfaction and financial hardship.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'On one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'To conclude.' However, the logical progression within paragraphs is often weak. For instance, the transition from discussing 'lack of wealth' to 'mental peace' in the first paragraph is abrupt and confusing. Additionally, some sentences are linked mechanically, and the relationship between ideas is not always transparent. Improving the use of referencing and ensuring that each sentence flows logically from the previous one would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There are instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'lower developed business' and 'unusual situation,' which do not accurately convey the intended meaning. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary, the overall range is limited, and there is a tendency to repeat basic words. To improve, focus on learning collocations related to career and personal development, and try to use more sophisticated vocabulary to express your ideas with greater clarity and nuance.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'had have no ambition,' 'matters on that place,' and 'by ourselevs.' Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent throughout the text. While the meaning is generally understandable, these persistent errors prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading your work to correct basic errors in verb tense and spelling, and practice constructing more complex sentences with greater accuracy.
