Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under-length at only 101 words, failing to meet the 250-word minimum requirement. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed. While the introduction attempts to outline both views and state a position, the body paragraph is extremely brief and lacks the necessary depth, development, and supporting examples required for an academic essay. The discussion of the second viewpoint is entirely missing, and the conclusion is absent. Because the response is so far below the required length, it is impossible to fully develop the arguments, leading to a very limited response that does not satisfy the requirements of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay shows some attempt at logical organization, with an introduction and a body paragraph. However, the lack of a full essay structure and the brevity of the text make it difficult to assess coherence and cohesion effectively. Cohesive devices are used in a somewhat mechanical way, such as 'The primary benefits to', but the overall flow is interrupted by the abrupt ending. Paragraphing is present, but the lack of a complete argument structure prevents the development of a logical progression of ideas throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision expected for an academic task. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'having struggling time is become common' and 'limitation of wealth'. While the meaning is generally clear, the student relies on simple, repetitive language. There is little evidence of less common lexical items or sophisticated collocations. To improve, the student should focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring correct word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Examples include 'having struggling time is become common' (incorrect verb tense/structure), 'Individual can be depressed and anxiety' (incorrect word form and missing article), and punctuation errors such as the misuse of commas and capitalization (e.g., 'Constantly' capitalized mid-sentence). The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. The student needs to focus on basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles and prepositions to improve accuracy.
