Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to address all parts of the task by discussing both views on accepting versus improving bad situations and providing a personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat superficial, with general statements that are not fully extended. For instance, the reasons given for accepting a bad situation, such as family crises or being a first job, are mentioned briefly without concrete elaboration. Furthermore, the response falls short of the word count requirement, containing 239 words compared to the minimum of 250 words, which impacts the overall fullness of task completion. Consequently, the score reflects a partial address of the prompt requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into four paragraphs, including an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing an attempt at logical structure. However, the overall progression is sometimes disrupted by abrupt transitions and mechanical cohesive devices. For example, expressions like 'To commence with' and 'moreover' are used, but referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'both have its pros and cons of accepting good and bad situation.' Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion lacks seamless flow, placing this performance solidly at Band 5.5.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student uses a limited vocabulary range that is minimally adequate for the task. There are several noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, such as 'cruial' instead of crucial, 'unsatisfied' instead of unsatisfactory, 'carier' instead of career, 'chossen' instead of chosen, and 'foe' instead of for. Additionally, phrasing is sometimes unnatural, such as 'getting favourite situations job.' These errors cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a restricted lexical repertoire appropriate for a Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but many complex forms contain significant errors. Examples include 'Few people reckon than it is good to accept a bad circumstances' and 'other think that try to improve such situations because it will impact on the resume.' Frequent grammatical inaccuracies, such as subject-verb agreement errors, missing articles, and incorrect prepositions, impede clarity at times. Punctuation and capitalization are also inconsistent. These issues limit the grammatical accuracy and range to Band 5.0.
