IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some people believe that it is best to accept a bad situation, such as an unsatisfactory job or shortage of money. Others argue that it is better to try and improve such situations.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
People hold contrasting views regarding whehther to just understand and settle down in a sub-par and unfavourable condition, while others believe that taking action and making these conditions better and favourable again is the best choice. Both the viewpoints will be discussed in this essay, prior to my opinion.
On one hand, the argument putforth by group of people holding the former viewpoint is that accepting the situation is the most beneficial choice as it is the safer option with no risks. This argument is based upon what if in search of favourable conditions you lose the little choice of options which were available earlier. For instance, a fresher graduating from college can get a job from the campus interviews but the salary is far lower that his desired wages, if the student rejects this offer and cannot find any job loses the opportunity to work for the former company offering lowering wages.
On the other hand, the believers of the latter viewpoint argue that, people should fight for their goals and not settle for anything less than their desires. According to the supporters of this viewpoint, true happiness and success can only be attained by relentless pursue after improvement of your current conditions. Although, it may include taking some risks and leaps of faith. Taking the previously mentioned example into consideration the student might not find a better job but he can become the founder of a company.
By way of conclusion, i believe that everyone should take the risk and strive to achieve the best possible situation they can.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs representing opposing views, and a brief conclusion. Cohesive devices are employed to connect ideas, such as On one hand and On the other hand, though some transitions are used awkwardly, such as prior to my opinion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different perspectives. However, referencing and logical progression are occasionally strained by mechanical phrasing and repetitive structures. Overall, the organizational framework meets the criteria for Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate their ideas effectively. There are attempts to use less common items and descriptive phrases, such as sub-par and unfavourable condition, relentless pursue, and leaps of faith. However, there are notable word-choice and collocation errors, such as whehther (spelling), putforth, offering lowering wages (instead of lower wages), and pursue instead of pursuit. These errors do not impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score to a Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, including conditional and relative clauses. There are, however, several grammatical errors and punctuation lapses throughout the text, such as missing articles, run-on structures, and awkward phrasing like the argument putforth by group of people. Additionally, the final sentence contains a comma splice and a lowercase i. While the grammatical errors are noticeable and require the reader to occasionally re-read, they rarely impede overall communication, placing the response firmly at a Band 6.0.
