IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Some people believe that it is best to accept a bad situation, such as an unsatisfactory job or shortage of money. Others argue that it is better to try and improve such situations.

Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

" Fall seven times,rise Eight"

Life is full of adventures, everyone has their own journey. Some people get really frustrated due to difficult situations they have to face and accept their loss even before competing. I believe everyone should have faith on their abilities and fight against their odds. It is always better to try than to sit and watch the situation unfold.

Further, the disappointment is justified as not everyone gets a head start like others. Everyone has its own social and economical hurddles. The weight of carrying this might not be the efficient approch and its better to accept what is inevitable. But doing so will only gives satisfaction as you are in your comfort zone and do not have to try something new.

If human never tried to face difficulties this modern civilization would have never been this much developed. If humans would have accepted failure to drag heavy objects than we would have never invented the wheels. Every invention is cultivated by difficult situations.

Additionally, we should be always try to learn fron people like Dr A.P.J Kalam who belong to lower middle class family. He himself use to distribute newpapers at very young age to earn some money. But inspite of this difficulties he was motivated to probe in field of science and space. To day he is known worldwide for his contributions in space research and scoence.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
