Student answer (Band 4.5)

Job and money always provide comfort to fulfil the necessities. Some people believe that accepting a difficult condition, either unhappy employment or financial problem, is the best option. While others believe that try to improve the situations would be better. This essay will cover both of the views and I will also share my prospective on this.

Regarding accepting the bad sitution, people does not try to get rid of this sitution because of their comfartable zone such as local city, family, seniority or language barrier. For instance, all of the countries has remarkable benchmark of salaries. In this way, individuals from Pakistan are earning lowest monthly income and facing around 50 degree celcius temprature in ten months of a year.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is severely under-length, containing only 121 words against the required 250-word minimum. Because of this major omission, the task cannot be fully addressed. The writer attempts to introduce both views in the introduction by stating that 'some people believe that accepting a difficult condition... is the best option' while 'others believe that try to improve the situations would be better.' However, the body paragraph only begins to discuss the first view regarding accepting a bad situation and touches briefly on comfort zones and low salaries. It completely fails to discuss the second view (improving situations) and does not provide the writer's own opinion as requested by the prompt. Consequently, the development is very limited and truncated, resulting in a low band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5

The essay is divided into two very short paragraphs, representing an introduction and an incomplete body paragraph. There is an attempt at overall structure, but the lack of a full body paragraph and a conclusion means there is no clear progression of ideas across the text as a whole. Cohesive devices are minimal, and referencing is occasionally weak, such as using 'this sitution' repeatedly without smooth transitions. Paragraphing is inadequate because the essay stops abruptly after the first body paragraph starts. While the opening sentences follow a logical sequence to introduce the topic, the overall arrangement is too brief and incomplete to demonstrate higher-level organizational skills.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive. The writer employs words such as 'comfort', 'necessities', 'difficult condition', and 'bad sitution'. There are several noticeable lexical errors, such as 'try to improve the situations' (grammatical form error in vocabulary context), 'comfartable zone' (spelling error), and 'earning lowest monthly income'. There are also collocation inaccuracies, such as 'remarkable benchmark of salaries' and 'facing around 50 degree celcius temprature'. While the writer attempts some topic-related vocabulary like 'seniority', 'language barrier', and 'financial problem', the limited range and frequent spelling and word-choice errors restrict the lexical score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response shows a limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences and basic complex forms. There are several noticeable grammatical errors and awkward phrasings throughout the text. Examples include 'people does not try to get rid of this sitution' (subject-verb agreement error with plural 'people'), 'While others believe that try to improve' (incorrect verb form after 'that'), and 'all of the countries has remarkable benchmark' (plural subject with singular verb 'has' and missing article). Punctuation is mostly basic. Although some sentences are understandable, the frequency of basic grammatical errors impedes clear communication in places.
