Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on whether to accept or try to improve difficult situations, and provides a clear personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. Ideas are extended, such as the discussion around financial stability, mental stress, and career development. However, the development tends to be somewhat repetitive and lacks specific, fully realised examples, relying instead on vague statistical claims like '80% people prefer to stud accept bad situation'. Furthermore, some arguments are abruptly cut off or lack complete logical progression, such as the incomplete sentence ending in 'financial'. Despite these limitations, the main prompt requirements are sufficiently covered, aligning well with the Band 6 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay displays a generally coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Basic cohesive devices are used to signal transitions, such as 'To commence with', 'Moreover', and 'On the other hand'. However, referencing and cohesion are frequently faulty or mechanical. For example, the sentence 'This essay will discuss the both the views in next two paragraphs along with with logical conclusion' contains redundant phrasing. Additionally, paragraphing is disrupted by incomplete thoughts and abrupt shifts, such as the unfinished sentence 'if the situation switch job randomly they facing financial issues', which impedes smooth logical progression. These issues place the response firmly in the Band 5 to 6 range.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student attempts a range of vocabulary suitable for the topic, including terms like 'multifarious', 'financial stability', and 'opportunities'. However, there are numerous word choice, collocation, and form errors throughout the text, such as 'competition were increase', 'stud accept bad situation', 'en Newyork City', and 'life compendium'. These lexical inaccuracies and awkward phrasings sometimes cause strain for the reader. While the range is adequate to convey basic meaning and attempts are made at less common vocabulary, the frequent slips prevent the score from reaching Band 6.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but grammatical accuracy is weak throughout. There are frequent errors in verb tense, subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure, such as 'competition were increase day by day', 'everyone not financially good', 'everythings was very expensive', and 'people is not stuck at bad situation'. Punctuation is also problematic, including run-on sentences and fragments like the incomplete thought ending the second paragraph. Although some complex structures are attempted, the high frequency of basic grammatical errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader restricts the score to a Band 5.
