Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views—accepting a bad situation versus trying to improve it—and states a personal opinion, though the reasoning is often obscured by expression issues. The writer attempts to develop ideas, such as mentioning earning money and saving time, but these ideas remain underdeveloped and somewhat disjointed. For instance, the reference to Emma Watson is not fully explained in relation to the prompt. Because the main task requirements are touched upon, the response warrants a Band 5.0 for addressing the prompt, even though the overall development is limited and difficult to follow in places.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response is organised into paragraphs, featuring standard transition markers such as 'On the one hand' and 'While on the other hand'. However, the overall progression is severely hampered by confusing referencing and abrupt shifts in logic. For example, sentences like 'Bad situation is not a exceptional for every person who live in the earth' disrupt the flow right from the beginning. Cohesive devices are frequently misused or inadequate, and referencing is often unclear, such as pronoun usage throughout the essay. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion is weak. This performance aligns with the Band 4.0 descriptor, as information and ideas are not arranged coherently enough to ensure smooth progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently relying on high-frequency terms like 'bad situation', 'earn money', and 'time'. There are numerous word-form and spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'exceptional' instead of exception, 'grommed' instead of groomed, 'unnessurary' instead of unnecessary, and 'approch' instead of approach. These errors often cause strain for the reader and impede clear communication. While the writer attempts to introduce less common vocabulary like 'paramount', the pervasive inaccuracies in word choice and spelling place this essay firmly at Band 4.0, as the lexical range is very limited and basic.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
Grammatical control is weak throughout the response, featuring a very limited range of structures. Most complex sentence attempts are heavily flawed or incomplete, such as 'As if we dont earn money we does not able to purchase every thing in life.' There are constant errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'others argued', 'the supporter of accept'), tense consistency, and article usage. Punctuation errors are also common, such as missing spaces after periods and incorrect comma splices. Because errors are frequent, distort meaning in places, and cause significant difficulty for the reader, this response meets the criteria for Band 4.0.
