Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The student attempts to address the prompt by discussing both views on whether to accept bad situations or try to improve them, and briefly gives their own opinion in the introduction stating that 'it is good to make the situation better.' However, the development of ideas is severely limited and often confusing. Phrases like 'do a insufficient job or to stock a money' indicate a partial misunderstanding of the prompt's vocabulary or core concepts. The reasoning in body paragraphs is disjointed, and the examples are vague and underdeveloped, struggling to support a clear, sustained position throughout. This corresponds to Band 4.0 descriptors where the task is addressed only minimally or ideas are insufficiently developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The text is organised into four paragraphs, which visually resembles an essay structure, but the internal logical progression of ideas is frequently broken. Cohesive devices are either missing or misused, such as 'At first' and 'To conclude,' which do not effectively guide the reader through a balanced discussion of two views. Pronoun referencing is often unclear (e.g., 'who do that jobs... they just waste...'). There is no clear overall progression of argument, resulting in abrupt shifts between sentences. This performance aligns with Band 4.0, where information and ideas are not arranged coherently and progression is lacking.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is very basic and repetitive, frequently relying on simple words and incorrect collocations, such as 'stock a money,' 'insufficient job,' and 'small kind of work.' There are multiple word choice and word form errors throughout the text (e.g., 'consorned,' 'spent' instead of 'spend,' 'feature' instead of 'future'). These lexical inaccuracies and the limited range of vocabulary frequently strain the reader and obscure the intended meaning, placing the response firmly within the Band 4.0 level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

Grammatical control is weak throughout the essay. The student relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences result in frequent, severe errors in tense, subject-verb agreement, and clause structure (e.g., 'The society think that...', 'A person who try to stock and think it will use...', 'They do that work which gave him a lot of profit'). Punctuation is also problematic in places. These errors are frequent and often distort the meaning, matching the criteria for Band 4.0 where a very limited range of structures is used and errors are frequent.
