Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both views—accepting a difficult situation versus trying to improve it—and provides a personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and restricted. For instance, the discussion on why people accept a bad situation touches on relevant points such as gaining experience and familial responsibilities, but these ideas remain underdeveloped and are occasionally repetitive or unclear, such as the sentence stating 'pupils can ability to learn new skills'. The position is stated, but the arguments lack sufficient elaboration and clear supporting examples, which prevents a more thorough exploration of the topic. To move to a higher band, the writer needs to extend each main point with deeper explanations and more precise, relevant examples rather than relying on generalisations.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay presents a basic logical structure with an introduction, body paragraphs addressing each viewpoint, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used to separate the opposing arguments. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression and smooth transitions between sentences and ideas. Cohesive devices are sometimes inaccurate, overused, or mechanical, such as the repetitive use of 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand', alongside awkward transitional phrases like 'In addition to it' and 'Secondly'. Referencing can also be unclear, making it difficult to follow the logical flow at times, such as the abrupt shifts within the second body paragraph. To improve cohesion, the writer should ensure that ideas flow more naturally from one sentence to the next using a wider and more accurate variety of linking words and referencing pronouns.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'controverisal', 'responsbility', and 'imporvement', but these attempts are marred by frequent spelling mistakes and word form errors. There are also noticeable issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'higher out source person' instead of hiring outsourced workers, and 'burden of hozine'. These lexical inadequacies and frequent spelling errors cause some difficulty for the reader and impede smooth reading. To achieve a higher score, the writer must expand their vocabulary range, pay closer attention to word formation and collocations, and significantly improve spelling accuracy.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing demonstrates a limited range of grammatical structures. While there are some attempts at complex sentences, these are frequently faulty, leading to awkward phrasing and grammatical errors. Examples include 'It is an undeniable fact that job plays an increabidly crucial role in order to shortage of money' and 'Not also people can overcome the difficulties but only feel more confident'. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement, articles, prepositions, and sentence construction that cause difficulty for the reader. To progress to a higher band, the writer needs to use a wider variety of complex sentence forms with greater accuracy, ensuring that basic grammar rules, verb forms, and clause structures are controlled more effectively.
