Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is often argued that people should accept a bad situation, like unsatisfactorty job or shortage of money while, others belive that people should try and improve such situations.
On the one hand, there are several reasons why some people prefer to accept difficult situations. Firstly, not every problem can be solved immediately, and attempting a bad situation may create additional stress. For instance,a person who is struggling financiallymay have family responsibilities and therefore be unable to leave a poorly paid job until they find another source of income. In such circumstances, accepting the situation temporarily can provide stabilty and allow the individual to plan for future.Secondly, people have limited control over such circumstances like a shortage of employment opportunities. Accepting these realities can help to cope with difficulties and to remain mentally prepared that prevent them from frustation.
On the other hand , actively trying to improve these kind of difficulties can lead to significant long-term benifits. If people remain dissatisfied with their job or financial position without taking any action, they may miss opportunities for personal and professional development. For example,an employeewho is unhappy with their salary could acquire new skills , complete professional courses or could apply for better paid positions. They can even do part-time work to increase their income.
In my opinion, accepting difficult situation is reasonable when there is no immediate way to change it, but it should usually be temporary respone rather then permanent solution. People should identify what they can control and make realistic efforts to improve their circumstances. This approach allows them to remain practical while still working towards a better future.
In conclusion, although accepting bad situation can sometimes be necessary because of financial responsibilities and other things , I belive that making a realistic efforts to improve such situations is generally the better approach.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—accepting difficult situations versus actively trying to improve them—and provides a clear position throughout, which is summarised well in the conclusion. Ideas are extended and supported with relevant examples, such as the mention of family responsibilities and finding alternative income sources. However, there is a slight tendency to over-generalise in parts, and some arguments, such as the brief point about coping mechanisms, could have been pushed further to reach a higher level of development. Overall, the prompt requirements are fully covered in a balanced manner.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The essay displays a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. Each paragraph has a distinct focus, moving smoothly from the introduction to the arguments for acceptance, the arguments for improvement, your opinion, and a concise conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'Firstly' are used flexibly to guide the reader through the text, although occasional mechanical transitions or slight lapses in referencing appear. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately to structure the flow of ideas logically.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, demonstrating a sufficient range to discuss the topic with some precision. The writer successfully attempts less common lexical items such as 'financial responsibilities', 'employment opportunities', and 'professional development'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, such as 'unsatisfactorty', 'belive', 'stabilty', 'frustation', 'benifits', 'employee' (written as 'employeewho'), and 'respone'. These occasional slips do not impede communication, but they reflect a typical profile where lexical control needs greater polish.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The writing demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating clauses using words like 'although', 'because', and 'when'. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as missing spaces after commas and periods (e.g., 'Firstly, not', 'For instance,a'), preposition misuse in phrases like 'attempting a bad situation', and minor structural slips like 'difficult situation' needing pluralisation or an article. Fortunately, these errors are relatively infrequent and rarely impede communication, allowing the reader to follow the arguments easily while showcasing an acceptable control of sentence structures.
