Student answer (Band 6.0)
Whether to accept a bad situation or try to improve it is widely debated issue in society. Many people suggest resilience and patience during unhappy life situations while others press on continues efforts to change bad circumstances. I believe a postive approach in difficult days of life and continue to struggle for good days.
On the one hand, some individuals think that a person should accept his unsatisfied job or poverty as this is his fate. Moreover, people believe that we cannot change our fortune, as we cannot change our fate we should accept the bad reality and our unfavourable circumstances. Likewise, people in bad relationships should compromise, as everyone has to compromise at some point in their lives. Futhermore, not everyone gets everything. We should show contentment with what we have.
On the other hand, critics argue that we should continue to struggle to change our bad life situations and seach for better opportunities in life. A person with poverty or unsatisfied job should keep his morale high with a positive attitude. In addition, one should focus on improving our skills and search for better options, such as high salary employment. Similarly, people in other unwanted situations like bad relationships should try to saltout their personal issues by understanding and better communication rather than giving up on them.
In conclusion, I think quality of life matters a lot for everyone. We should remain calm in difficult situations of life and keep on trying to makeup our deficiencies and wait for the right time to avail a better chance.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views—accepting a bad situation versus trying to improve it—and provides an overall opinion in the introduction and conclusion. However, the development of ideas is uneven. While the body paragraphs present relevant points regarding jobs, poverty, and relationships, some arguments remain under-developed or briefly stated rather than fully extended with specific examples or deep analysis. For instance, the discussion on relationships touches briefly on communication, but lacks detailed expansion. The position is generally clear throughout, yet the reasoning in places tends to generalise rather than explore the nuances of why individuals might choose resignation over resistance. To move to a higher level, the writer needs to provide deeper, more fully elaborated explanations and more substantial examples for each viewpoint discussed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the essay into an introduction, two opposing body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points of view. Cohesive devices are employed to signal transitions, such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion'. However, some cohesive referencing and mechanical links feel slightly repetitive or faulty, such as the frequent reliance on 'Moreover' and 'Futhermore' without varied transitional phrasing. While the progression of ideas is generally clear, the internal flow within paragraphs could be smoother to fully achieve a higher standard of logical development and seamless referencing.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items and topic-related words such as 'resilience', 'unfavourable circumstances', 'contentment', and 'deficiencies'. However, there are noticeable limitations and inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and spelling throughout the text. Examples include 'widely debated issue' lacking an article ('a widely debated issue'), 'press on continues efforts' instead of 'continue efforts' or 'continuous efforts', 'saltout' instead of 'sort out', and 'makeup' used as a verb instead of 'make up'. There are also spelling slips such as 'postive' instead of 'positive' and 'seach' instead of 'search'. These errors do not seriously impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score by causing occasional confusion for the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt to handle varied structures. However, grammatical errors and inaccuracies occur across different areas, including missing articles, incorrect prepositions, and faulty verb phrase patterns. Examples of structural and grammatical issues include 'Whether to accept a bad situation or try to improve it is widely debated issue', 'a postive approach in difficult days of life and continue to struggle', and 'A person with poverty'. Punctuation and agreement slips are also present, such as shifts in pronouns and missing plural markers. These errors occasionally disrupt the reading flow, though they rarely impede overall communication. To reach a higher band, the writer must produce a greater proportion of error-free complex sentences and exercise tighter control over grammatical patterns.
