Student answer (Band 5.5)

Few people argue that it is better to accept a stressful job or to live with financial problems through out their life. While other believe that a person should work hard to improve such situations. I agree with the secand view due to the fact that everyone should have a clear goals in their life to improve such condition.

One the one hand, this situation can be improved if planned carefully, such as by improving their skill on any particular field. This can have a great impact on finding better job, and also open a gate for many opportunities. By learning any advance skill they can easily cope with financial condition and can help getting their dream job. For example, with the advancement of technology artificial intelligence have replaced a lot of jobs and low skilled workers have to face alot of unemplyoment issues in camparison with the person who can handle these modern automation, can make enough money to spend his life comfortabley.

On the other hand, if a person is motivated they can make things better by proper investment. It may not be helpful in getting rich instantly. But in a long term it wil be benefitial, as developed countries are constantly improving their stock market and if someone who are not interested in any kind of job, or if they have financial problems then this innitiative can definately cover their many difficulties. For an instance if we think about a survey which was done in America between 2011 to 2014, it illustrates that arround 7 million people became millionare by just investing in a big campanies like Amazon, Apple, Ali baba and many more in stock exchange.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both views on accepting or improving bad situations and states a clear position in the introduction. However, the development of ideas remains limited and under-developed. For instance, the paragraph addressing the view that people should accept such situations is missing, as the writer immediately pivots to discussing how to improve conditions instead of genuinely examining the first viewpoint. The body paragraphs offer some relevant thoughts, such as learning advanced skills or investing, but these points lack deep extension and rely on general statements. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to ensure all parts of the prompt receive balanced attention and that each main idea is fully supported with specific explanations and well-elaborated examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays some overall organization with recognizable paragraph breaks, and the writer attempts to use cohesive devices such as 'One the one hand' and 'On the other hand'. However, progression is sometimes hindered by mechanical or inaccurate transitions. For example, referencing is not always clear, and the opening paragraph misinterprets the first viewpoint due to phrasing issues. Cohesive devices are occasionally overused or awkwardly placed, creating a somewhat repetitive flow between sentences. To improve cohesion, the writer should focus on creating a smoother logical progression from one idea to the next, ensuring that referencing words connect clearly and that paragraphing is managed with greater precision to guide the reader seamlessly through the argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common items such as 'advancement of technology' and 'proper investment', but noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form occur throughout the text, including 'secand' instead of 'second', 'unemplyoment' instead of 'unemployment', 'camparison' instead of 'comparison', 'comfortabley' instead of 'comfortably', 'wil' instead of 'will', 'benefitial' instead of 'beneficial', 'innitiative' instead of 'initiative', 'arround' instead of 'around', 'millionare' instead of 'millionaire', and 'campanies' instead of 'companies'. These lexical inaccuracies occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader. To achieve a higher band, the writer must expand their lexical range, pay closer attention to spelling and word forms, and use less common vocabulary with greater precision and stylistic awareness.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response employs a limited range of grammatical structures, relying primarily on simple sentences alongside some attempts at complex forms that are frequently faulty. There are noticeable errors in verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and articles throughout the text. Examples include 'Few people argue' when the context suggests 'Some people argue', 'While other believe' instead of 'others believe', 'everyone should have a clear goals' with a plural noun following a singular article, and 'if someone who are not interested' where agreement fails. These frequent errors in grammar and punctuation can cause some difficulty for the reader. To progress, the writer needs to increase their control over complex sentence patterns, ensure accurate agreement and article usage, and reduce the frequency of basic grammatical slips.
