Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some people argue that individuals should be satisfied with their current employment and financial status while others believe that they should focus on their limitations strive to improve it. This essay will discuss both views before concluding that self- improvement is more beneficial.

On the one side, being satisfied with what one has, which is often seen as accepting destiny, helps individual to remain mentally peaceful because they do not compare with others. For example, people who are content with a job in a city like victoria often experience less anxiety as compared to those who often chase promotions may feel stressed. However, this mindset can lead to stagnation so that personal growth is limited.

On the other hand, people who focus on their limitations and work hard to improve them often achieve greater success or because learning continuously provide better opportunities. Moreover, people become more disciplined and develop both mentally or physical while working under pressure. They are ble to face the failure with a positive sprit and learn how to tackle the arduous challenges in lfe. For instances, an employee who is determined can earn more wages than that person who didn't focus on their drawbacks.

In conclusion, although both views has their own meanings in which one perspective leads individuals with mental stability and satisfaction with their destiny while other view helps to build a stable successful career ahead. In my opinion, individuals should learn and focus on their limitations to become a better version of themselves.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—accepting a bad situation versus trying to improve it—and clearly states a personal position in the introduction and conclusion. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others, which is typical of this level. For instance, the paragraph discussing the benefits of accepting a bad situation introduces a relevant idea regarding mental peace, but the supporting example about a job in a city remains somewhat brief and under-developed. To reach a higher band, the writer needs to extend and support all main ideas with deeper elaboration and more specific, fully realized examples throughout the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement and clearly establishes a progression through well-defined paragraphing. Introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion are all present, and the writer uses basic cohesive devices like 'On the one side', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' to signal shifts in the argument. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or slightly faulty, such as the awkward transition 'or because learning continuously provide better opportunities' and referencing issues in referencing plural and singular nouns. While it does not yet display the flexible, skilful management of cohesive devices required for higher bands, it successfully maintains a clear logical organisation throughout.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'stagnation', 'arduous challenges', and 'destiny'. However, there are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and word forms, such as 'earn more wages than that person who didn't focus on their drawbacks' instead of 'higher wages', and mixing 'mentally or physical' instead of 'mental or physical'. Spelling and word-choice errors do not seriously impede communication, but they restrict the score to this band. To improve, the writer should focus on precise word formation, natural collocations, and avoiding repetitive or slightly unnatural lexical choices.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt to use varied structures such as relative clauses and conditional-style reasoning. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, including subject-verb agreement issues like 'both views has their own meanings', missing articles, and awkward prepositional phrasing ('face the failure with a positive sprit'). Fortunately, these errors rarely impede communication and the meaning remains clear. To advance further, the writer needs to increase the proportion of error-free complex sentences and ensure tighter control over grammatical agreements, prepositions, and verb forms.
