Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays, there are different approaches of groups, on the topic of handling the bad situations in life. And, usually two types of views are most noticebale, where in one, people tend to just accept the situation and continue living, while the others believe to change that situation. And in my essay, I have equally considered both these views.

Firstly, the argument of just accepting the bad situation, can be understood as sign for responsibility, beacuse a person who is the only earner in a family, might have to perform his professional duties, even though he\she may be unsatisfied with their jobs. And, that acceptance of unsatisfied job, become irrelevant in such cases, as the sole earner is responsible to feed their family. Another reason for people choosing to accept bad situation like of money shortage, can be that such people may be prioritising simple living, for instances if an individual earns 1000 dollars a week, but his expenditure is 1100 dollar per week, so he may prioritise cutting on his unnecessary cash outflows, rather working more in rats race in order to follow the trends.

On the other hand , some people believe that improving such bad situations is better option, for instance, if a person is unsatisfied with his job and feels short on his income target, so they ussually think of leaving their job, and persuing some course into demanding skills, so that they can find high paying job and follow their intrest. Rather then, continuing at place where they find to do career progression.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You address both views: the first body paragraph explains why a sole family earner might remain in an unsatisfactory job, while the next describes retraining to pursue better-paid work. These examples are relevant, but the discussion is only partial because the ideas are not fully explained, and the response does not provide a complete answer to the prompt. Most importantly, the final paragraph begins, “In my opinion, t” and stops, so your own position is not stated or supported. The introduction says you have considered both views equally, but this does not make your personal opinion clear. To strengthen the response, complete the conclusion with a definite view and explain why, while developing the examples and linking them directly to the question.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation: an introductory paragraph is followed by one paragraph for each view, and signposts such as “Firstly” and “On the other hand” help readers identify the contrast. However, progression is not consistently clear. The introduction contains several ideas in one long sentence, and the second-view paragraph moves from dissatisfaction and income to retraining and career progression without fully explaining the links. The unfinished final paragraph also leaves the essay without a conclusion or a clear overall direction. Some connectors are awkwardly placed or overused, including repeated sentence openings with “And.” Use a clearer paragraph plan, connect each example to its main point, and finish with a concise conclusion that states your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “sole earner,” “professional duties,” “prioritising simple living,” and “demanding skills.” These choices show some range beyond basic wording. However, noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation problems reduce precision: “noticebale,” “persuing,” and “intrest” are misspelled, while “follow the trends” and “career progression” do not express the intended ideas clearly in context. Phrases such as “bad situations” and “unsatisfied job” are also repeated or unnatural. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, distinguish being dissatisfied with a job from being unsatisfied with a particular outcome. More precise vocabulary would make your examples easier to follow.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional example beginning “if a person is the only earner” and a sentence explaining why someone might remain in a job. However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. For example, “that acceptance … become irrelevant” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “if an individual earns 1000 dollars a week, but his expenditure is 1100 dollar per week” has inconsistent number marking. The opening also uses sentence fragments or awkward sentence boundaries, such as “And, usually two types of views are most noticeable.” Practise complete sentence construction, agreement, articles, and punctuation, then proofread each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
