Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some people argue for one's own good one should accept a bad situation like an unsatisfactory job or lack of money, whereas others argue that improvement of such situations is reachable by trying harder. I believe that by not accepting defeat one should have persevearance to improve his bad situation and help other sufferers to create a better world.

One one hand, if an individual accepts bad situation like - a lack of good job or money, he will suffer in the long run with unfulfillment and disgrace of his failure. Furthermore, he won't be able to satisfy his needs to live in this world. For example, if a person has bad job he will always be demotivated to work and have an unsuccessful career. As a result, he will always question his worth and many times such individuals suffer from mental health problems.

On the other hand, even if one is in a bad situation he can turn his fate in a good situation by working hard and not giving up. Moreover, after several attempts one who succeeds may be motivational to others who are demotivated. In addition, by achieving success it brings sense of responsibility to an individual where he is also helpful to create oppurtunities for the people who are suffering. For example, a person who has suffered knows the bad effect of such situation he might be helpful to the one who is in need by providing necessary resouces.

In conclusion, people should not be satisfied with their bad situation if life. In my opinion, they should work hard to improve their lifestyle as well as assist others so that the world is a better place to live with joy.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both views and state a consistent opinion: you argue that people should try to improve difficult circumstances and then help others. The two body paragraphs are relevant, with examples involving an unsatisfying job and someone who uses past hardship to support others. This covers the task well, but the discussion is not equally developed. The case for accepting a bad situation is presented mainly through negative consequences, without explaining why acceptance might sometimes be sensible, such as when circumstances cannot be changed immediately. The improvement argument is clearer, though claims about success and helping others remain general. To strengthen the response, explain the reasoning behind each view and develop one example in more detail.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion that restates your position. Signposting such as “On one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the discussion. Ideas generally progress from the situation to its consequences or possible improvement. However, some linking is mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “Moreover,” “Furthermore,” and “In addition.” Connections within sentences are occasionally unclear; for example, “by achieving success it brings sense of responsibility” does not clearly identify what “it” refers to. Use fewer formulaic transitions and make relationships between claims explicit, so the progression feels more natural and references are easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of relevant vocabulary, including “unsatisfactory job,” “demotivated,” “mental health problems,” and “create opportunities,” which helps communicate the topic. There are also attempts at less common expressions, such as “perseverance” and “unfulfillment.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, sometimes making the meaning less clear: “improvement … is reachable,” “disgrace of his failure,” and “motivational to others” are examples. Spelling errors such as “persevearance,” “oppurtunities,” and “resouces” also affect accuracy. Aim for natural combinations of words and check spelling carefully; for instance, say that improvement is “possible” and that someone can “inspire others.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “if an individual accepts…” and clauses beginning “even if” and “who.” This gives the response some variety, and the main ideas are generally understandable. However, errors in sentence construction, articles, agreement, and punctuation remain noticeable. For example, “One one hand” repeats a word, “if a person has bad job” needs an article, and “by achieving success it brings sense of responsibility” has an unclear grammatical structure. The conclusion also has a comma-spacing problem in “In my opinion, they.” Review article use and ensure each sentence has a clear subject and verb. Practising accurate complex sentences will help you express the ideas more smoothly.
