Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You introduce the topic and state a clear preference: “an individual should always set goals” rather than accept difficulties. However, the response addresses the task only minimally. It does not explain why people might accept a bad situation, and the opposing view is not developed beyond a brief reference to striving for improvement. The example about the digital era is cut off, so it provides no supporting detail, and there is no conclusion. The response also falls 140 words short of the required minimum, leaving too little space to discuss both views and support your opinion. Develop each perspective with reasons and a relevant example, then restate your position in a conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is a basic overall shape: an introductory paragraph gives your position, followed by a paragraph beginning “on the one hand.” This helps the reader recognise the start of one viewpoint. However, the essay stops before a clear progression can be established: there is no paragraph presenting the other view or concluding the discussion, and the final sentence is unfinished. The phrase “Both the views and my opinion will be explored” signals an intended structure, but the promised discussion does not follow. Use separate, complete paragraphs for each view and your opinion, and connect them with clear transitions such as “On the other hand” and “In my view.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “financial crisis,” “short term and long term goals,” and “digital era,” which shows an effort to discuss circumstances and opportunities. However, the range is limited by the short response, and several spelling or word-choice errors make the writing less precise: “indivual,” “contemptory,” and “acheive.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “acceptance of critical circumstances” and “work towards betterment.” Choose more conventional collocations, for example “accept a difficult situation” and “strive to improve one’s circumstances.” Proofread spelling carefully and extend the discussion with vocabulary for both accepting and changing difficult conditions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both a complex opening clause (“while others contend…”) and shorter statements, showing some variety in sentence construction. The main ideas are generally understandable, but grammatical control is uneven. For example, “an indiviual should” needs the article “an” before a correctly formed noun, while “one should plan short term and long term goals” would be clearer as “set short- and long-term goals.” The final sentence, “The digital era gives enormous opportunities for people to e,” is incomplete and prevents the idea from being understood. Check articles, sentence completion, and punctuation, and practise writing complete complex sentences that clearly express a reason and its result.
