Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this present word different individuals has different mindset. Some people don't fight for their fortune and accept whatever the situation is , while other show utter resistance and do whatever it takes to turn the tables. Both, have their own reason for doing that.

One type of people are those who accept whatever the circumstances are, for elaboration take few examples such as unhealthy relationship, academic stress and declining business. They believe that fortune has made this decision and they must accept it. Their comfort zone do not allow any defensive measure to take. An interesting example is of an introvert student who don't socialize much and think of it as its built in personality.

Other genre of persons are those who can't accept any unwanted situation. For example, if they have failed an exam they will work hard again and again until they succeed. Although the situation is irreversible , they do their best to turn it in their favour. Another relevant example is the invasion of Mahmood Ghaznavi on Indian subcontinent; he took 21 attempts to conquer India and had defeated in all of them. Nevertheless, on the next try victory bow to its feet. History is full of such great personalities.

I believe that a person should adopt the resistive personality and do whatever it takes to improve the condition. It makes their life more positive, less fluctuating and much productive. It may take a lot of time to escape from your comfort state but it will be worth it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You discuss both responses to difficult circumstances and state your own view clearly: “a person should adopt the resistive personality.” The examples of an introverted student and someone repeatedly attempting an exam help illustrate acceptance and persistence, so the response addresses the main parts of the task. However, the first view is explained less fully: the examples are listed, but the reasons people might rationally accept an unsatisfactory job or financial hardship are not explored. The historical example is also asserted rather than explained in a way that clearly supports the argument. Develop each side with a specific reason and show how your example demonstrates it; this would make the discussion more balanced and convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a concluding opinion. The progression from acceptance to resistance is easy to follow, and signposts such as “For example,” “Nevertheless,” and “I believe” help readers track the argument. This meets the lower-band expectations securely and shows some features of stronger organisation. To improve further, make links between ideas more precise and avoid abrupt or unclear transitions. For instance, “Although the situation is irreversible” conflicts with the idea of trying to change it, while “Both, have their own reason” does not clearly preview the two reasons that follow. Use topic sentences that state each side’s rationale, then connect the examples directly to that rationale.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “circumstances,” “comfort zone,” “resistance,” and “productive.” These choices show an effort to express abstract ideas, but several phrases are inaccurate or unnatural and sometimes make the meaning less clear. Examples include “different mindset,” “Other genre of persons,” “turn it in their favour,” and “victory bow to its feet.” Some word forms and collocations also need attention, such as “resistive personality.” Aim for natural, precise expressions rather than unusually elaborate wording. Reusing a straightforward phrase such as “people who try to change their circumstances” would be clearer and more effective than “other genre of persons.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple sentences and attempts at more complex structures, including “Although the situation is irreversible, they do their best…” and “It may take a lot of time… but it will be worth it.” Meaning is generally recoverable, but errors in agreement, articles, and sentence construction are noticeable. For example, “different individuals has” should be “different individuals have,” and “Their comfort zone do not allow” needs plural agreement or a singular subject. The opening also joins clauses with a comma in “Some people… is, while other…,” and “Both, have” has unnecessary punctuation. Review subject–verb agreement and sentence boundaries, then proofread each sentence for articles and plural forms.
