Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The response makes an attempt to discuss contrasting views and gives a personal opinion, particularly in the comments about company employment and self-employment. However, these points do not clearly address the prompt’s contrast between accepting a difficult situation and trying to improve it; the essay shifts to comparing types of work, so the central task is only minimally addressed. The opinion that money is important is stated, but the position on whether people should accept or improve bad circumstances remains unclear, and examples are not sufficiently explained. The response also contains 208 words, below the required 250; 16 words copied from the prompt were excluded from that count. To improve, answer both sides directly, state a consistent view, and develop relevant reasons and examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There is some attempt to organise ideas through contrast markers such as “On the other hand” and “in my opinion,” and the response moves between company work and self-employment. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the discussion shifts repeatedly—from job security to factory work, business success, and the national economy—without explaining how these points connect to accepting or improving a bad situation. Most ideas are crowded into one paragraph, and transitions such as “However” and “As a result” do not always show a clear logical relationship. Use separate paragraphs for each view and your opinion, and connect each example explicitly to the point it supports. Clearer referencing and fewer abrupt topic changes would make the argument easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses some vocabulary relevant to employment and finances, including “job security,” “health insurance,” “paid leave,” “independent,” and “basic needs.” These terms show an attempt to discuss the topic, but the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make ideas unclear, such as “more decision,” “structure environment,” and “some few people.” Spelling errors, including “stortage,” “recieve,” and “reault,” also reduce accuracy. Aim to use precise phrases that directly express the task’s ideas, such as “accept an unsatisfactory situation” and “take steps to improve one’s circumstances.” Checking spelling and learning common collocations for work, income, and financial hardship would make the message more natural and precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts both simple statements and longer sentences, including a conditional idea in “if the business is successful” and a reason introduced by “because.” However, sentence boundaries and basic grammatical patterns are often inaccurate, which makes several ideas hard to interpret. For example, “Other alternative argue that it try to improve much situation” has problems with subject–verb agreement, pronouns, and sentence construction; “self employed have individuals have more opportunity” is also structurally unclear. Articles, plurals, and verb forms are frequently missing or incorrect, and punctuation and capitalisation are inconsistent. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then combine them with clear clauses using “because,” “although,” and “if.” Proofread each sentence for a complete subject and verb.
