Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is often argued that we should accept a bad situation, while others believe that we should try and improve such situations. Although, both perspectives have their merits, i believe making efforts ti improve difficult situations is better because it can lead to a more secure life.

On the one hand, those who support accepting difficult situations argue that this approach can help people to reduce stress and maintain peace of mind. This is largely because constantly worrying about problems can cause stress and frustration. For example, someone who cannot find a better job may choose to accept his current situation and his stability. Consequently, this person may experience less pressure in his daily life. From this perspective, acceptance can be a logical way to avoid stress and thinking.

On the other hand, supporters of trying to improve bad situations maintain that taking action can create better opportunities. They argue that people with ambitions can find better always, which leads to a better quality of life. For instance, someone who works in society with a toxic environment could search for another job to qualify a healthy vibe of work. While this argument is reasonable, i believe that deciding to improve difficult situations is the better idea because accepting a bad situation can afford temporary comfort but in the long term may lead to more harmful things. Therefore, individuals should take steps to avoid bad situations whenever it's possible.

In conclusion, although accepting difficult situations can reduce stress and afford stability , trying to improve them also has significant advantages. Nevertheless , i believe that imtaking action is the better approach primarily because it creates opportunities for a long term.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and state a clear preference for trying to improve difficult situations, especially in the introduction and the final body paragraph. The discussion of acceptance is relevant: you explain that it may reduce stress and illustrate this with someone staying in a job for stability. You also give a reason for taking action, linking it to better opportunities. However, some ideas are less fully developed than others. The example of changing jobs is brief, and the claim that people with ambitions can find “better always” is unclear rather than a developed explanation. Your conclusion restates the position but adds little. Explain more precisely how taking action can improve security or wellbeing, and develop each example to show its outcome.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The contrast between “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” helps readers follow the discussion, while “For example” and “Consequently” signal illustration and result. This coherent arrangement meets the lower-band expectations and shows some flexibility in linking ideas. At times, however, connections feel mechanical or unclear. In the first body paragraph, “accept his current situation and his stability” does not clearly express the relationship between the job and stability; the final sentence about “stress and thinking” is also difficult to follow. Improve cohesion by making references explicit and ensuring each sentence develops the point before moving on.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “peace of mind,” “stability,” “toxic environment,” and “opportunities.” However, the range is limited and several noticeable word-choice or collocation errors make parts of the argument difficult to understand. “Find better always” is not a natural expression, “qualify a healthy vibe of work” does not convey the intended meaning clearly, and “afford temporary comfort” is an awkward collocation. “Stress and thinking” is also imprecise. These issues fit a level where vocabulary is minimally adequate but errors can cause some difficulty for the reader. Build accuracy by learning common word partnerships and choosing precise phrases, such as “find a better job” and “a healthier working environment.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex forms, including a concessive opening with “Although” and a conditional clause beginning “whenever it’s possible.” Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical and punctuation errors recur. “Although, both perspectives” incorrectly separates the conjunction from its clause, and “i believe” should capitalise the pronoun. The phrase “someone who works in society” has an unclear grammatical relationship, while the final sentence contains the malformed “imtaking.” Commas and spaces before punctuation are also inconsistent. These errors do not generally prevent understanding, but they reduce control. Practise accurate clause construction and proofread for capitalisation, sentence boundaries, and punctuation.
