Student answer (Band 6.5)
People have different opinions on how to deal with tough situation. Some argue that it accepting and compromising is the best solution, whereas others of the opinion that one should strive for better opportunities to improve their current lifestyle. I believe both perspectives are correct in their own specific contexts. Not all events in our lives have a dead-end, nor do all situations provide an option to breakaway from it.
There are some instances in life where a person has no option other than to compromise. Such situations provide no alternative other than to accept it and move on. A simle example of this can be of a person forced to study at a small community college or a local educational institute due to lack of money. One might have a dream of studying at a well-known institute, but the budget is sometimes out of their range, and earning such a enormous amount of money in a short time is nearly impossible. Hence, there is no option other than acceptance.
On the other hand, there are situations where people have the option to make their current aspect of life better. For instance, if a person is feeling stuck and unsatified at his current workplace, he has the option to change his job. For instance, he can search for different jobs in his area. He can choose another job that align his passions and his skills. Moreover, nowadays many remote jobs are available. Freelacing is also a great option that he can choose if he wants to be self-employed. In short, there are many opportunities present for an individual. All he needs is to strategically hunt for them.
Overall, there is never a simple straightforward formula to solve various situations. Every event is unique and call for a unique action.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both views and give a clear position: acceptance may be necessary in some circumstances, while improvement is possible in others. The examples of limited finances affecting college choice and changing an unsatisfying job are relevant and help explain the contrast. Your conclusion also reinforces the idea that responses depend on the situation. However, the first example mainly explains why a person may have to accept a constraint; it could develop the opposing view more fully by considering what acceptance offers, such as reducing stress or focusing on achievable goals. The job example lists options but does not explain the risks or steps involved. More balanced development and a clearer link between each example and your reasoning would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction states your position, two body paragraphs discuss the contrasting views, and a conclusion summarises your perspective. Transitions such as “On the other hand,” “Moreover,” and “Overall” make the main direction easy to follow. Some linking is repetitive or mechanical, particularly the repeated “For instance” in the job paragraph and the repeated “He can” sentence openings. The relationship between ideas could also be made more explicit: the college example, for example, would benefit from a sentence explaining why acceptance is preferable when change is not realistically available. Use a wider range of referencing and transitions, and ensure each paragraph develops one central point in a clear sequence.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “compromise,” “unsatisfied,” “self-employed,” and “strategically hunt.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and the meaning remains clear despite some inaccurate or unnatural expressions. For example, “tough situation” would be more natural as “difficult circumstances,” while “breakaway from it” is not the usual collocation in this context. There are also spelling errors such as “simle,” “unsatified,” and “Freelacing,” alongside awkward phrasing such as “a such an enormous amount.” Aim for more precise collocations and proofread spelling; this will make your vocabulary sound more controlled and appropriate for an academic essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex forms, including the contrast structure “whereas others…” and the inversion “nor do all situations provide an option…”. Most sentences communicate their meaning, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “Some argue that it accepting and compromising is the best solution” has an incorrect clause structure; “others of the opinion” is missing a verb; and “a person forced to study” needs a clearer grammatical construction. There are also agreement and article problems in “a job that align his passions” and “a such an enormous amount.” Work on complete clause structures, subject–verb agreement, and articles, then check each sentence for accuracy. Greater control of these forms would make your varied sentence patterns more effective.
