Student answer (Band 6.0)

There is a growing debate reagrding an unaccepted situation where people behave and take decisions differently. Some believe that people should better accept a terrible scenario, others maintain that they must strive more to try and improve such cases. I strongly believe that although both views have undeniable benefits but a combination of both offer the best outcomes.

Advocates of accepting a worst scenario, such as a work place dissatisfaction or lack of funding, with an open heart believe that it inculcates empathy in individuals. Reacting agressively and taking abrupt decisions on spot may cause damage to overall personality and might worsen the situation. Its not necessary to be successfull at all costs, sometimes a bitter scenario comes in life just that we could learn the best we can from it rather than getting success all the times. People need to trust what life's plan for them and openly accept every hurdle that comes in way.

On the other hand, proponents of trying and imporving yourself again and again in worst cases argue that consistency is the key to perfection and success. Failure in certain areas require sheer determination to do better enough to reach the goal. Moreover, with repetitive attempts to find a perfect job or be monetarily independent, regularity of personal growth is required to great extent. If people halt striving hard to reach their aim, they would certainly feel discontended from life and lose interest in everything. Hence, motivation being the driving force for a successful life is essential to be kept likewise.

From my perspective, I believe that the best way to tackle worst situations is to show empathy while facing it, along with the motivation and determination to strive hard in order to improve that scenario.

In conclusion, while it is important to try and improve ourselves in any case given, it is also essential to take inner piece and contentment into account and be down to earth at all costs.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both views and give a clear personal position: the opening says a combination is best, and the final body paragraph explains that acceptance should be paired with motivation. The two main perspectives are also supported with relevant reasoning, such as avoiding impulsive decisions and persisting towards employment or financial independence. This meets the task well, but the discussion is not equally developed throughout. The acceptance paragraph relies on broad claims about life’s plan and learning from hardship, while the improvement paragraph gives more concrete consequences of giving up. Your own combined position is stated clearly but could be explained with a specific example showing how acceptance and action work together. Developing that example and clarifying the distinction between accepting circumstances and accepting defeat would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, a paragraph stating your own perspective, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “On the other hand,” “From my perspective,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow. Ideas within the paragraphs generally move in a logical order, and the reader can identify which viewpoint is being discussed. To strengthen cohesion further, make links between claims more explicit and avoid relying mainly on signposting phrases. For example, the conclusion repeats the balance between improvement and contentment but does not clearly connect it to the earlier point about avoiding abrupt decisions. A more precise reference to that reasoning would create a tighter progression from the discussion to your final judgement.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “empathy,” “sheer determination,” “monetarily independent,” and “driving force.” These choices show an effort to express abstract ideas rather than relying only on basic words. However, inaccurate spelling, word forms, and collocations are noticeable and sometimes make the phrasing awkward, as in “reagrding,” “imporving,” “work place dissatisfaction,” and “take inner piece.” Some expressions are also imprecise, such as “accepting a worst scenario” and “be kept likewise.” Aim for natural combinations and check spelling carefully; for instance, use “an unsatisfactory workplace” and “inner peace.” More precise, consistently natural vocabulary would make your ideas clearer and demonstrate stronger control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mixture of simple and complex sentence forms, including subordinate clauses and conditional structures, as in “If people halt striving hard to reach their aim, they would certainly feel…” This gives the response some structural variety, and the main meaning is generally understandable. However, some grammatical errors remain in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and punctuation. For example, “a combination of both offer” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “Failure in certain areas require” also needs agreement. The sentence beginning “Its not necessary” needs an apostrophe, and “the best way … is to show empathy … along with the motivation” has an awkwardly balanced structure. Review agreement and sentence boundaries, and proofread punctuation so that complex sentences remain controlled.
