Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both views and make your preference for improving difficult circumstances clear, especially in the opening and conclusion. The response also gives relevant examples, such as developing skills through online courses or taking part-time work. However, the discussion is only partly developed: the acceptance argument is mainly that circumstances are outside one’s control and that change can be risky, while the improvement argument relies on broad claims about hard work leading to success. Explain these points more fully—for example, when acceptance may be sensible and how a specific effort could improve someone’s prospects. Your position is present, but it would be clearer if stated consistently and supported with more precise reasoning.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. Phrases such as “on the one hand,” “on the other hand,” and “in conclusion” help signal the main stages. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow, particularly in the second body paragraph, where skills, online courses, part-time work, business, and future outcomes are joined without clear explanation of their relationships. Some linking is mechanical or repetitive, and punctuation makes several ideas run together. Organise each paragraph around one main point, then explain it and give a focused example. Clearer sentence boundaries and more precise references would make the argument easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “accept,” “improve,” “skills,” “risky,” and “outcome,” so the reader can identify the main ideas. However, the range is limited and several word choices or combinations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes meaning difficult to interpret. For instance, “try to best improve” and “better outcome” do not express your intended ideas naturally, while “new ideas and skills improve for this money” is unclear. Spelling errors such as “veiw,” “imporve,” and “succesful” also reduce clarity. Build a bank of accurate phrases for discussing employment, financial pressure, and personal development, and check spelling and collocations when revising.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a conditional idea beginning “if one don’t like this jobs” and a contrast introduced by “although.” However, control is limited: errors in subject–verb agreement, articles, pronouns, and sentence construction occur frequently and can make the reader work to understand the message. For example, “everyone face many difficult situation” and “some people believe that is best to accept” lack accurate agreement or sentence structure. Several ideas are joined without clear punctuation, as in the long sentence beginning “on the other hand.” Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them using clauses such as “because,” “although,” and “if.” Check agreement, tense, and sentence boundaries carefully.
