Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is often believed by many people that it is best to accept bad circumstances, such as unsatistied employment or lack of money, while others argue that people should make an effort and improve such situations. This essay will discuss both the views before explaining why I believe that life gives us chances, therefore working hard and reconsidering the circumstances may improve people's lives.

On the one hand, it is considered best to accept bad situations of everyday life such as shortage of money and unsatisfied job. This is because there is a significant increase of competition in the workforce recently, and if individuals want to stay and earn their livelihood they have to cope up with the situations. For instance, many people are unsatisfied with their low-income because they cannot provide basic nesessities to their families, however if they accept these situation, they may learn to live happily and provide basic needs.

On the other hand, some argues that these situations can be improved by working hard. People who are not satisfied with their earnings and employment, they may talk and discuss the matter with their employers. Furthermore, some may apply for different jobs, if they carry a considerable experience in their field, which can improve their overall well-being and satisfaction with the new employment. Moreover, with the shortage of money they can talk to their families and control their expenses for a limited time period until they obtain another job. However, I strongly believe that people can do better in their lives by working long hours, discussing the situation with their families and employers and looking for alternative jobs.

In conclusion, although it is important to accept certain situations like unsatisfactory job and shortage of money to compete with the competitors in the market and fulfil basic essentials, I believe people should reconsider these situations and make efforts to improve their overall well-being.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and state a clear preference for trying to improve difficult circumstances, especially in the introduction and the final paragraph. The discussion is relevant: you explain that people may accept a job or income situation to maintain a livelihood, then suggest speaking with employers, seeking other work, and managing expenses. However, the reasons are not developed equally. The acceptance argument relies mainly on learning to live happily, without explaining when acceptance is sensible or how it helps beyond coping. The improvement argument offers more practical steps, but these are listed rather than supported with a specific example or fuller explanation. Develop each view with a clear reason and an illustrative example, and make your position more precise than simply saying people should work hard.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The progression from accepting circumstances to trying to change them is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help orient the reader. This meets the lower-band expectations securely and shows some features of stronger organisation. However, cohesion is occasionally mechanical, with several transitions beginning “Furthermore” or “Moreover,” and the long second body paragraph combines several different suggestions without grouping or explaining their relationships. The “however” in the first body paragraph also joins contrasting ideas that would be clearer as separate sentences. Use fewer formulaic linkers and build each paragraph around a more clearly developed central point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to discuss employment, finances, and personal circumstances, including phrases such as “earn their livelihood,” “overall well-being,” and “alternative jobs.” There are also attempts at more formal wording. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision: “unsatistied employment,” “unsatisfied job,” “cope up with,” and “basic nesessities” do not express the ideas naturally. “Compete with the competitors” is also repetitive, while “working long hours” does not clearly support the argument that circumstances can be improved. Spelling errors are noticeable. Aim for accurate, natural combinations such as “dissatisfied with their job,” “cope with the situation,” and “essential expenses,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “if individuals want to stay and earn their livelihood they have to cope…” and a subordinate clause beginning “although” in the conclusion. Most ideas remain understandable, and the errors do not generally prevent communication. Some grammatical problems nevertheless recur. For example, “some argues” has incorrect subject–verb agreement, and “People who are not satisfied with their earnings and employment, they may talk…” has a faulty sentence structure. There are also issues with articles, plurals, and punctuation, as in “accept these situation” and the missing space after “money,” in the introduction. Practise checking agreement and sentence boundaries, and vary complex structures while keeping each sentence controlled.
